โข Ahead of World Savings Day on October 31, @EcobankRW is encouraging customers to build consistent saving habits through its Save as You Spend (SAYS) account, which offers an annual interest rate of 5.5%.
โข The account allows customers to automatically save a percentage of each transaction made from their linked everyday banking account.
โข For example, a customer who chooses to save 5% and spends Rwf20,000 will automatically transfer an additional Rwf1,000 into their savings account.
โข Leonard Gahonzi, Ecobank Rwandaโs Head of Premier Banking and Affluent Market, said the service aims to make saving part of everyday financial decisions and support long-term financial planning.
โข The bank said the initiative offers customers a convenient way to build savings gradually towards goals such as emergency funds, education, home ownership and business investment.

โข @EcobankRW has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Chinaโs Cross-Border Interbank Payment System (CIPS) to strengthen Renminbi (RMB) payment connectivity between China and Africa.
โข The partnership aims to simplify cross-border payments, reduce settlement complexity and improve access to payment and clearing channels for businesses trading across the two regions.
โข The agreement comes as ChinaโAfrica bilateral trade reached approximately $348 billion in 2025, reinforcing the need for efficient financial infrastructure.
โข Ecobank Group CEO Jeremy Awori said the partnership would help importers, exporters and other businesses operate more efficiently across African and Chinese markets.
โข Ecobank has operated in China since 2012 and serves 34 African markets through its pan-African banking network.
