A day of desk-work. Our students worked hard, gave some great presentations, & enjoyed a pub quiz devised by the staff. There was still time for marmot-spotting & a final view of our glacier #UoYAustria24 @YorkEnvironment @UniOfYork #NationalFestivalofFieldwork #Ötztal #Austria

A new paper in @STOTEN_journal reviews organic #carbon accumulation in British #saltmarshes. The study suggests the low accumulation rates highlight the need to protect the organic carbon already locked away in #saltmarsh soil. Read more 👉

The urgency of the #ClimateCrisis demands research like ours that highlights and mitigates the social, economic, cultural and environmental impacts of a world powered by fossil fuels. But to do so using money wholly derived from fossil fuel extraction is now untenable 1/2 🧵
Ed Garrett retweeted
In line with our Departmental core values, we are committed to leading by example and are refusing to take research funding from any companies closely connected to the fossil fuel industry.

New Paper! 📍| Happy to see the second paper from my PhD published in JQS. We generated three #sea-level reconstructions from #saltmarshes in SE #Australia. We find that increasing ocean temperatures were primarily responsible for rapid sea-level rise in the 20th century 🌡️🌊 | 1
