Trans Activism Against Disinformation on Social Media: Communication Strategies of Advocacy Organizations on Instagram in Spain, by Adolfo Carratalá, has been published in Recherches en communication (No. 58).
The article examines how three Spanish trans advocacy organizations respond to disinformation and hate speech on Instagram. It shows how these groups prioritize education, community support, and human rights advocacy to build counter-narratives and challenge the epistemic violence of disinformation.

During its final conference on 8 September 2026, EDMO BELUX 2.0 organised a workshop exploring two key questions:
🔎 What challenges do disinformation and mitigation experts face when discussing disinformation in public debates?
💡 What approaches can help ensure that expert knowledge on disinformation is not only voiced, but also heard in the public sphere?
The discussion focused on the importance of finding effective ways to communicate expertise and ensure that informed perspectives have a place in public conversations about disinformation.

The article explores the relationship between conspiracy theories, inequality, and misinformation, arguing that conspiratorial beliefs can also function as a form of social critique and reveal underlying power inequalities. Using corpus-assisted critical discourse analysis, the study examines anti-trans discourses on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, showing how omission, politicization, and dehumanizing narratives can contribute to the spread of disinformation and threaten the safety and security of trans people.
