Delighted that a Wessex Mayor was confirmed in today's Budget announcement. It means more money and more investment for West Dorset.

Huge thanks to all the school Heads who have been in touch to let me know about their capacity to take on students from Leweston and about employment opportunities for staff.
I would urge any parents or staff affected to contact me at [email protected]
A week ago I asked the PM to guarantee we would have a Mayor of Wessex by 2028. I'm told it will be confirmed in tomorrow's budget. 🎉
Again today I raised the issue of the SFI window closing too quickly, being underfunded, and leaving West Dorset farmers struggling to plan.
Men in rural and deprived areas are less likely to get prostate cancer tests, today I spoke about the need for greater screening.

#Somerset, #Dorset and #Wiltshire could all be sharing a mayor by 2028 as prime minister @andyburnham publicly backs a 'Wessex' #devolution deal: somersetcountygazette.co.uk/… #LDReporter #Bournemouth #Christchurch #Poole #PMQs @EdwardMorelloWD
The recent application window for the Sustainable Farming Incentive funding was a disaster, lasting barely 6 hours. My speech yesterday on the what the Government must do before we lose more vital food production.
Some coverage on the @BBCNews of yesterday's call for a Mayor of Wessex. If a Mayor means more money for Dorset then better we have one sooner rather than later.

West Dorset MP @EdwardMorelloWD asked the PM about devolution today and he said 'I'm always happy to create more mayors'
'Mr. Speaker, I'm not joking. Yes. I would like to see a fully devolved south west of England.
'I know Cornish members were in Number 10 North this week to discuss a devolution deal. I met Devon members this week who are seeking the same. I will offer the same to Wessex members and let's move quickly to get a fully devolved Wessex and Southwest of England'
The key bit that will be watched: 'let's move quickly'
💥 EXC: Labour MPs are calling for greater parity between mayoral & non-mayoral areas, as the County Councils Network warns Burnham’s devolution drive could create a country of ‘urban haves’ and ‘rural have nots’ ⬇️
Labour MPs are growing restless - one tells me there is a ‘bias’ towards mayoral areas 🧵
Lovely morning at Bridport Stroke Club, speaking with members and taking part in some water colour painting. Thankfully these pictures don't show quite how terrible I am at art!

Grateful to the @Dorsetecho for covering my calls for great action against the water companies.

Dorset doesn't get the money it needs or deserves from central Government. If the key to more money is having a Mayor of Wessex then lets have one sooner rather than later. I'm grateful for the Prime Minister's commitment to us having one before 2028.
I spent the day on Sporting Events Bill committee, I used the opportunity to speak about my amendment that would have increased funding for community and grassroots sports. Sadly the amendment was defeated by the Government.
The @WSJ is reporting a potential meeting between Putin, Trump, & Xi to agree a deal on Ukraine. I asked the Defence Secretary to confirm Britain supports Ukraine, no matter what deal is done.
