if they didn't want to get paid to bump, I'd suggest wrestling as an entire field is not for them
Replying to @El_HDH
I know a lot of old heads hate that WWE sanitized certain guys, but almost all of them were happy they got paid shitloads to bump less. Would I rather bleed to death for a great match or cash checks from a cartoon? I wonder.
Punk is a good demonstration that athleticism isn't particularly high on the list of desirable attributes for a wrestler, and you can absolutely work around it by going harder into character work and psychology instead
I will forever implore people to watch pre-WWF Jim Duggan, because him becoming a goofy comedy character was 100% their idea, before that he was like a proto-Stone Cold
his cage match with Ted DiBiase is in my top 5 matches of all time
the timing on that finish is incredible
Arn makes the trip, Brian does the double take, Ric hits the forearm, all exactly at the right time

if you don't love this match, we're into wrestling for fundamentally different reasons

my little pac story was at a dguk meet and greet. i wanted to tell masato yoshino that he was my favourite wrestler and pac offered to translate. he turns to yoshino and in broken english shouts “YOU. HIM. FAVOURITE WRESTLER” and yoshino is very appreciative and shakes my hand.
what the fuck??
holy shit, RIP to one of the absolute greats, I can't believe this
