Preceded by The Broadway Melody (1929) and followed by Broadway Melody of 1938 (1937) and Broadway Melody of 1940 (1940). Another film in the series was planned, “Broadway Melody of 1943” starring Eleanor Powell and Gene Kelly. However, that project was abandoned when Kelly was loaned to Columbia for Cover Girl (1944).

A beautifully staged specialty dance to Cole Porter’s “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” in Night and Day (1946)!
✨ Sung by Ginny Simms, the number features the professional dance duo Jane and Adam Di Gatano, whose ethereal and graceful performance is a real highlight. I never thought I’d say this, but I may have found a dancer with even better legs than Cyd Charisse! What a shame the duo apparently made no other film appearances.
The film’s heavily fictionalised portrait of Porter, played by Cary Grant, may take liberties with the composer’s life unfortunately, but this number is a visual treat! 🎶
