Tens of billions in tokenized assets are sitting idle. A missing layer. We wrote about what that layer looks like, and what we're building ↓ medium.com/@EngineRWA/engine…

Proud to partner with @AvaxTeam1 Engine lets anyone build onchain strategies, baskets and vaults from tokenized assets, then distribute them and earn on what they create. Team1 is helping us bring that to @avax builders 🔺

Asset managers spend years building distribution. On Engine, the designer's audience is the distribution. Build the strategy, share it with the people who already follow your calls, and earn from it.

“Tokenization is inevitable.” It is.
We throw the phrase around constantly. You throw it around. I throw it around. The entire industry throws it around. “Tokenization is inevitable.” But why? Because look at what we’re actually talking about. We’re talking about taking financial assets that have existed for decades, sometimes centuries, and moving their representation, ownership records and the processes around them onto blockchain infrastructure. We’re talking about markets that currently operate within different systems, with different intermediaries, restricted operating hours, settlement delays and geographical limitations. Tokenization has the potential to change that. 24/7 markets - Financial assets that can be transferred and settled beyond traditional market hours. Faster settlement - Reducing the time and complexity involved in moving assets between parties. Greater accessibility - Making certain asset classes available to a wider range of investors. Programmability - Assets that can interact with smart contracts, automated payments and DeFi applications. Global distribution - The ability to distribute financial products across borders and connect previously disconnected markets. Operational efficiency - Reducing reconciliation, paperwork and unnecessary intermediaries. And perhaps the biggest reason? The underlying technology doesn’t need to replace the entire financial system overnight to become valuable. It just needs to make certain parts of it work better. That’s why I believe tokenization is inevitable. Not because every asset will be onchain tomorrow, not because every token will succeed, and certainly not because every financial institution will use the same infrastructure. But because the advantages of bringing financial assets onto programmable, internet-native infrastructure are becoming increasingly difficult to ignore. The question isn’t whether tokenization has a future. It’s what that future actually looks like, who builds it, and how much of the existing financial system eventually moves onchain.

We've been quietly building something with a team that knows how to scale ecosystems. Can’t say much yet. What we can say: • New collaborators joining the Engine build • Workshops, early access and things to do for this community • Rewards for the people who show up first Things are clicking into place. 🔴 Full reveal soon.

RWAs are finally doing something on-chain besides sitting still. Morpho's RWA markets: $2.1B+ deposited, ~$900M borrowed. The catch: four assets made up ~58% of RWA collateral as of Oct 1 (Sentora). Usage is real. Depth still to come.

DTCC just put a token switch in the market's plumbing. DTC ($114T+ in custody) launched its Tokenization Service today. 20 participants signed, incl. JPMorgan, BofA, Citi, Fidelity. Canton + DTCC's private chain first. Minting is step one. What gets built on top is step two.

Every wave in finance runs the same way. First someone makes the asset. Then someone makes it useful: the index, the fund, the strategy. Tokenization is deep in wave one. Engine is building wave two.

Stock tokens you can borrow against. Bank cash on Ethereum. A stablecoin in 3.3M wallets. Tokenization became plumbing last week. @RobinhoodApp x @Morpho @jpmorgan JPM Coin @HSBC RedCoin @SECGov exam priorities Our weekly RWA roundup

The SEC's 2027 exam priorities just named tokenization a high-risk area for clearing agencies and a focus for Reg SCI exams. The word "crypto" doesn't appear once. Tokenization has moved from the crypto file to the market plumbing file. That's what adoption looks like.

Week wrap: less building new things, more making existing things obvious. Every product on Engine should answer three questions up front: what's in it, what rules it runs on, who it's for. That's the bar.

Tokenized stocks are now collateral on @RobinhoodCrypto Chain. @Morpho markets let Stock Token holders borrow USDG against NVDA, TSLA, AAPL and SpaceX (62.5% LLTV) or GOOGL and SPY (77%). The tell: Steakhouse picked tokens by DEX liquidity. That's where liquidations happen.

A hedge fund just became a $10 token. CMCC Global tokenized two multi-manager funds (funding-rate arb, vol arb, market making) via Tether's Hadron and Bitfinex Securities. 1:1 with fund shares, 24/7 trading. Assets on-chain was step one. Strategies are step two.

3/ Redemption got tighter. 2 business days, and the automatic 7-day extension is gone. If requests top 10% of a stablecoin's outstanding supply in 24h, the issuer notifies the OCC and can ask for more time. The $5M capital floor now applies past year three too.

4/ The quiet part: the Act still bars issuers from paying interest. But the OCC dropped its proposed presumption that deals with affiliates or third parties evade that ban. Now it's case by case, with enforcement against clear evasion.

5/ Read together: the stablecoin gets regulated like cash plumbing. Yield isn't removed from the stack, it gets pushed into what sits on top: tokenized funds, rewards programs, products built on the dollar. That layer is where the next fight happens.
1
The first GENIUS Act rule is final. OCC, Oct 21: a licensing path for bank and non-bank stablecoin issuers, live Jan 18, 2027. Redemptions within 2 business days. And no blanket presumption against third-party reward deals. The dollar becomes plumbing. Yield moves up a layer.

2/ What's in it: a licensing framework for "permitted" payment stablecoin issuers, bank and non-bank, plus standards for foreign issuers and custody. AML and sanctions rules come separately with Treasury. Effective Jan 18, 2027, same day as the Act.
