A moment of appreciation for the beautiful arches in the Museum - it’s not nicknamed ‘the cathedral to nature' for nothing! 😍✨

#DIDYOUKNOW: Many nudibranchs use stolen toxins as a secret weapon! ⚠️ By eating toxic prey, these colorful creatures can adapt these traits to defend themselves from would-be predators. This #InternationalSeaSlugDay, learn more: oceana.ly/47My7E6

🧛‍♂️With its dark, cloak-like webbing, the vampire squid may look like something out of a Halloween story, but it actually spends most of its time quietly surviving in one of the ocean’s most extreme environments. Learn more: oceana.ly/4eM84Ax

A (very) small selection of the notable orchid hybrids and unusual forms found earlier this year during the month I spent out on Rhodes for @Mariposa_Nature. Looking forward very much to doing this again in 2027, both for Team Mariposa and with another project on the cards... 🤫

You don't have to be afraid of this clown. The Clown Frog (Atelopus varius) is a critically endangered toad. Something more scary has killed them off - Chytrid Fungus, a deadly fungal pathogen killing frogs worldwide. 📸 Brian Gratwicke learn more at buff.ly/9hz4iTR

Cheeky male Electric blue gecko (Lygodactylus williamsi) in my terrarium at home. This is a critically endangered species from Tanzania and has CITES and EU Appendix A protection. It is easy to breed in captivity though, so poaching should not happen anymore.

The Idrija mercury mine site was UNESCO World Heritage Listed in 2012. We did the tour and entered via Anthony’s Shaft. The underground exploration was truly amazing, the best historic mine visit I ever had!

Visited the famous mercury mine at Idrija in Slovenia. This was the second largest mercury mine in the World operating from 1490 onwards. Over 500 years approx. 700 km of tunnels were dug under the town (down to 382 m deep).
