#Safeguarding Training for Security Officers.
Security personnel at the University are undergoing safeguarding training to strengthen the protection of students, staff, visitors and University property.
The training emphasises discipline, punctuality, respect for human dignity and effective responses to safeguarding concerns and security challenges across the University community.
Officers were reminded to observe time, maintain discipline, uphold high standards of conduct and carry out their duties responsibly.
During the session, Mr. Musa Mulindwa, the Deputy Chief security officer, urged the officers to treat everyone fairly, without discrimination, and to consider the needs of persons with disabilities and other vulnerable members of the University community while on duty.

Makerere University has appointed a committee to investigate sexual harassment allegations, with University Secretary Yusuf Kiranda urging victims to come forward. Appearing before the Parliament's Public Accounts Committee, chaired by Patrick Oshabe, Kiranda said the university would take disciplinary action against any staff member found guilty, regardless of their position or membership on the investigating committee. He reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to protecting students from sexual harassment. #MonitorUpdates

🇺🇬 @Makerere University Secretary Yusuf Kiranda told the Public Accounts Committee that students seeking to use Freedom Square must book in advance and disclose their meeting content, prompting Chairperson @nsambapatrickUg to question whether the venue still lived up to its name.
@nsambapatrickUg challenged the restrictions, arguing that a space where students once debated with political leaders was being controlled at the expense of developing future leaders.
Henry Alinaitwe rejected the suggestion that Makerere had killed student politics, pointing to former student leader @ShamimNambassa involvement in politics.
But when Nsamba pressed him on whether management also wanted to know what students would discuss, Kiranda acknowledged that it did.

Pursuant to Section 8(1) of the Public Financial Management (PFM) Act, @Makerere held its stakeholder consultative budget conference today, marking a key step in preparing the Budget Framework Paper (BFP) for FY 2027/2028 as required by @mofpedU.
The conference was officially opened by Professor @SsaliSarah, the Ag VC, who represented Hon. @BruceKabaasa, Chairperson of the Finance, Planning, Administration and Investment Committee (FPAIC) of the University Council. The forum provided an opportunity for technical budget teams to align future appropriations with the practical needs and realities of the university community.
We look forward to a BFP that reflects the realities of the people.

In quest to popularise the University Policy against sexual harassment and the commitment to gender equality, Makerere University Gender Mainstreaming Directorate (@MakerereGMD) conducted a half-day policy dissemination workshop for Support Staff.
The mandate of the Directorate is derived from two main policies namely;
i) the Makerere University Gender Equality Policy 2009, which envisions Makerere University to become a gender-responsive University in which substantive gender equality is reality, and
ii) the Makerere University Policy & Regulations against Sexual Harassment of 2006, as amended in 2018 with a vision to coordinate, facilitate and monitor the integration of the gender dimension into the core functions of Makerere University including; Teaching and Learning, Research and Innovations, Knowledge Transfer Partnerships, and Support Services.
Dr. Euzobia Mugisha Baine - Chief @MakerereGMD while opening the discussion highlighted the importance of the participants' contribution as stewards towards @Makerere's policy against sexual harassment and gender equality.
