I've made several Xs this week 😎😎 How? Meme Abstraction 😏😏 what's that? Simply put, getting into #memecoins on #NEAR. With the #MemeCoinSeason heating up, here's a quick guide to help you position yourself for what's coming on #NEAR.

The broader framing of deliberate theft of non-public proprietary technology, cover-ups, or criminal implications is much weaker given the public paper, existing citations, algorithm change by near:native , and independent-development statement on CKD. This shit is better understood as an unresolved patent negotiation lever than a clear-cut case of theft. internet-computer:native is a joke lol

Firstly, there were two patents on the algorithm they took, one was issued *beginning* of this year. We want license fees at the least. Sorry to those that liked my previous post, I reworded this to be more precise. If they knew about the patent applications, then license fees could be recoverable from the beginning of their use of the proprietary tech (~2+ years) not from earlier this year. There are some things that point in that direction in my view, e.g. 1) GitHub posts like this, note what's in the quotes, which I read like pre-emptive non-infringement positioning github.com/near/mpc_old/pull… (the algo of course re-uses the invention with a minor tweak that make it less secure), and 2) they had hired a senior DFINITY engineering manager in April 2022, who I feel would have known full well about DFINITY efforts to patent major works. We need that Google doc referenced by that GitHub pull request; NEAR if you're reading this, deleting evidence won't be helpful, maybe you'd like to voluntarily share this. Secondly, it looks to us like their Confidential Key Derivation is basically derived from the vetKeys paper, and maybe they looked at our Rust implementation too. That wasn't patented, but completely wrong to go around passing off hard and substantial work by very serious cryptographers as your own, and also completely ridiculous. I'm sure Ilia is a more serious guy than that. We are not anti-NEAR, but this is obviously too much and has to be addressed. Note as well that passing off a competitor's academic work as your own to gain an advantage also transgresses various other laws around the world. But anyway, if this is what has happened, I'm sure Ilia, as a supporter of open source, will want proper credits and references to be added, and for their CKD article to explain where the math came from. We're busy but will be contacting them, first to try and resolve this amicably. Meanwhile, they also need to think hard about who they choose as friends. Some of the people that came after us for them are absolutely freaky and the worst web3 has to offer. Notably, we've heard no denial, nor apology.

DFINITY says $NEAR copied its signing tech. Here is what actually differs. 👇 Think of musicians using the same theory book. Shared theory does not make every arrangement a stolen recording. You still credit the influences. Chain Signatures lets a group of computers sign transactions for other chains. Dominic Williams alleges NEAR used specific DFINITY inventions without permission. So compare the actual machinery: 1. Different signing engine. NEAR's ECDSA code derives from Cait-Sith, an open-source library by Lúcás Meier. ICP uses its own distributed-signing stack. The documented starting point is Cait-Sith, not ICP's entire implementation. 2. Different math at the disputed step. Each signature uses a one-use secret number called a nonce. When using stored, partly prepared signatures, the two constructions refresh that nonce differently: • DFINITY's paper: old nonce + fresh random value • NEAR's code: old nonce × fresh random value Why multiply? Cait-Sith prepares secret shares of the nonce's inverse in advance. Multiplication lets NEAR update those pieces locally by dividing them by the public multiplier. An additive change needs different treatment of those shares. That changes the construction, not just the variable names. 3. Different way to finish the signature. NEAR's selected signers send weighted partial answers to a coordinator, which adds them. ICP's signers produce verifiable numerator and denominator shares. Those are reconstructed separately, then divided. Both ultimately produce standard ECDSA signatures. Different machinery underneath. An independent Trail of Bits audit documented the multiplication-versus-addition difference in March 2025. It reviewed NEAR's proof only at a high level and recommended further peer review. NEAR also credited the research in an August 2024 PR, saying its model "deviates substantially" from Groth and Shoup's. My NEAR take: these are not identical signing constructions. There is acknowledged research influence, not evidence here that the whole ICP implementation was copied. That is not blanket legal clearance. Claims about specific inventions still need evidence of the protected right and its infringement. The market still prices $NEAR like an L1 that missed its moment. It's 74% below its 2022 high @Bitwise prices it as the chain AI agents run on, with a $155 base case for 2030. That's about 30x from $5.26 BlackRock's research paper "The Machine-Native Economy" describes the same outlook. Agents that find, buy, and pay for compute on their own In the paper's words, agents "query real-time marketplace APIs to compare available capacity by price, performance, latency, location, and hardware specialization," then pay "on a per-use, per-model-token, or per-job basis" NEAR already runs two pieces of that: 1. NEAR Intents: you say what you want and solvers route it across chains. $33.99B in volume to date, $4.84B in the last 30 days (DefiLlama), and its fee share has bought back NEAR since February 2. NEAR AI Cloud: private inference inside secure hardware, now a provider on OpenRouter, and running private sessions in Brave's Leo assistant When I asked Matt Hougan on @MilkRoadDaily whether Bitwise's call was absurd, he said NEAR could 40x or 50x, and that "doesn't strike me as absurd if it actually executes on this vision" His framing: Intents alone roughly justifies today's price, and the AI goal comes "like a moonshot for free" For context, $155 a NEAR works out to about a $200B market cap. That's still below ETH's $298B today Wall Street is already buying in. Bitwise's spot NEAR ETF launched Sept 29 and took in $35.5M on day one, which Hougan called "a Bitcoin ETF style success" It's important to say that these price predictions are ambitious, and not necessarily going to play out in NEAR's favor. Ryan Rasmussen said their model assumes "a very high likelihood that this doesn't work out," and the bear case in the report is $1.63 If agents end up buying their own compute, the chain built around that job looks cheap at a $6B market cap It's a risky bet, but the upside is a huge moonshot. Full disclosure: $NEAR is a position in my Milk Road PRO portfolio. Our PRO team was early to $UNI (+54.8%), $AERO (+93.7%), and $SOL (+39.1%) Try Milk Road PRO for $1 for 7 days, link in bio: @BitcoinJesusETH
