When Pope Leo XIV was elected in May 2025, the first American-born pope and the first Augustinian friar to lead the Church, @VillanovaU became the first American university to claim a sitting pontiff as an alumnus.
Since then the world has had questions about his priorities, his travels and what his papacy means for the Church and beyond. Villanova has answered by putting its scholars front and center.
Its Papacy Experts hub brings together faculty in theology, law, sociology and Augustinian studies, including Massimo Faggioli, Michael Moreland, Ilia Delio and Tia Noelle Pratt.
They offer:
→ Timely insight into Pope Leo's travels and the challenges of his second year
→ Thoughtful answers to the questions people are asking about this papacy
→ Commentary already trusted by NPR, CNN, the Associated Press, the Financial Times and America Magazine
It's a model of how a university can serve journalists, students, alumni and the faithful alike: by making its expertise easy to find at the moment the world is paying attention.
Congratulations to the Villanova team. Take a look in the video below.

Federal Reserve Decision Puts Borrowing Costs and Inflation in Focus
'The decision reflects a difficult balance. Higher interest rates can help restrain inflation by discouraging borrowing and spending, but they can also slow business expansion, reduce hiring and make major purchases harder to afford. Keeping rates elevated gives those effects more time to work through the economy. Raising them further could add pressure if households and employers are already becoming more cautious.'
