Soldiers have one answer to everything… 🔫 Robert Peel wanted something nobody had tried: ordinary men, in a blue coat, with a stick. 👮‍♂️ Blue so you couldn't mistake them for the army. A stick so the answer was never a bullet. And a rulebook written before any of them stepped outside. Your job is to prevent crime, not punish it. You have no power the public hasn't given you. Use force last, as little as you can. The police are the public. The public are the police. London hated them. Raw lobsters. Blue devils. Peel's bloody gang. In their first year a constable was killed breaking up a fight and the jury called it justifiable. They went out the next morning with a stick anyway.
