🌱 Talking about the future of food with young people. On 27 October, the FAO Partnership and Liaison Office in the Republic of Korea visited Chadwick International School to engage with middle and high school students on food security, the links between agriculture and our daily lives, and the role of youth in building more sustainable agrifood systems. The session also explored how young people can contribute to addressing global food challenges, as well as career pathways and skills for working with the UN and international organizations. Youth engagement and ideas can be a powerful starting point for building better agrifood systems. 🌏🌾

🌱 미래의 식량 문제, 청소년과 함께 이야기했습니다. FAO 대한민국 협력연락사무소는 10월 27일 채드윅 국제학교를 방문해 중·고등학생들과 식량안보, 농업과 우리의 일상, 그리고 지속가능한 농식품 시스템을 위한 청소년의 역할에 대해 이야기를 나눴습니다. 또한 학생들이 세계 식량 문제 해결에 어떻게 참여할 수 있는지 살펴보고, UN 국제기구에서의 다양한 진로와 필요한 역량에 대해서도 함께 생각해보는 시간을 가졌습니다. 청소년의 관심과 참여가 더 나은 농식품 시스템을 만드는 변화의 시작이 될 수 있습니다. 🌏🌾

🌊 Jung Hee Sung, Head of the Guryongpo Fishing Village Cooperative and President of the Gyeongbuk Haenyeo Association, attended the FAO 100 Women Heroes Presentation Ceremony at FAO headquarters in Rome on 15 October. With around 40 years of experience as a haenyeo, she has worked to improve the welfare and working conditions of local women fishers, promote their role and contributions, and preserve and pass on haenyeo traditional knowledge and culture. She was selected as one of the FAO 100 Women Heroes in Agrifood Systems and Rural Development, which recognizes women contributing to more sustainable agrifood systems and rural communities around the world. #FAO #100WomenHeroes

🌊 성정희 구룡포어촌계장(경북해녀협회 회장)이 지난 10월 15일 이탈리아 로마 FAO 본부에서 열린 ‘FAO 여성 인재 100인 인증식’에 참석했습니다. 약 40년간 해녀로 활동해 온 성정희 회장은 지역 해녀들의 복지와 작업 여건 개선, 여성 어업인의 역할 확대, 해녀의 전통지식과 문화 전승을 위해 힘써왔으며, 이러한 공로를 인정받아 ‘농식품 시스템 및 농촌개발 분야 여성 인재 100인’에 선정됐습니다. 이번 인증식은 전 세계 여성들의 리더십과 전문성, 그리고 농식품 시스템과 지역사회의 지속가능한 발전에 대한 기여를 조명하는 자리였습니다. #FAO #100WomenHeroes

Youth from the WFF National Chapter in the Republic of Korea took the lead in organizing the #WFF2026 Decentralized Forum Event on 16 October. 🌱 Under the theme of AI, women farmers and future food, participants explored cases from the ROK, Indonesia and Bhutan, and brought their discussions together in the Youth Manifesto. On 30 September, @FAOROK met with the Mayor of Buan County, Kwon Ik-hyeon, to discuss cooperation on agriculture, fisheries and local development. The two sides exchanged views on opportunities for collaboration, including cultural exchanges related to agriculture and fisheries, and looked forward to their next meeting in Rome.
