FEDUSA ALERT | PROTECTING WORKERS, SAFEGUARDING JOBS The United States government’s announcement of its intention to suspend South Africa’s preferential trade benefits under the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), with the proposed effective date of 1 January 2027, raises serious concerns about the potential impact on jobs, livelihoods and key sectors of our economy. FEDUSA calls for urgent and coordinated action to protect workers, preserve employment and support industries potentially affected by this development. We urge government, business and organised labour to strengthen engagement through Nedlac, ensure the implementation of practical worker protection measures and accelerate strategies that promote industrial development and trade diversification. Workers must not bear the cost of international trade and diplomatic tensions. The protection of workers’ jobs, dignity and livelihoods must remain a national priority. #FEDUSA #AGOA #WorkersRights #JobProtection #DecentWork #TradeAndIndustry

STRENGTHENING LEADERSHIP CONTINUITY | BUILDING THE WAY FORWARD Leadership transition is not simply about passing on positions; it is about ensuring that experience, institutional knowledge and organisational commitments are carried forward. Following FEDUSA’s engagements on leadership continuity, Social Justice Officer Brenda Modise, former Vice President Annadel Coetzee and newly elected Vice President Nkhensani Maluleka met today to reflect on the roles and responsibilities of the committee and discuss its strategic direction going forward. The engagement provided an important opportunity to share experience, clarify responsibilities and strengthen alignment on the committee’s mandate and priorities. As the Federation embraces a new chapter of leadership, these conversations are essential to preserving institutional memory, strengthening collaboration and ensuring that the work of the committee continues with purpose and direction. Honouring the experience that brought us here. Strengthening the leadership that will take us forward. #FEDUSA #LeadershipContinuity #InstitutionalMemory #SocialJustice #BuildingTheFuture #WorkersFirst

YOUR VOTE. YOUR VOICE. YOUR COMMUNITY. YOUR FUTURE. As a leading politically non-aligned trade union federation in South Africa, the Federation of Unions of South Africa (FEDUSA) believes that active citizen participation is fundamental to a healthy and functioning democracy. With the 2026 Local Government Elections taking place on 4 November 2026, FEDUSA calls on all eligible voters, particularly workers and young people, to exercise their democratic right and participate in shaping the future of their communities. Local government matters. It is the sphere of government closest to the people, and the decisions made by municipalities have a direct impact on our everyday lives. From access to water and electricity, sanitation and public transport, to infrastructure, local economic development and employment opportunities, municipal governance affects the dignity, livelihoods and wellbeing of workers and their families. For FEDUSA, voting is about more than casting a ballot. It is about democratic participation, representation and accountability. It is about ensuring that communities have a voice in determining their future and that those entrusted with public responsibility remain accountable to the people they serve. As a politically independent and non-aligned federation, FEDUSA does not endorse political parties or prescribe whom workers should vote for. We respect every individual’s democratic choice and encourage voters to make informed decisions based on leadership, policies, performance and the needs of their communities. Our message is simple: Participate. Make your voice heard. Demand accountability. On 4 November 2026, exercise your democratic right. Your vote matters. Your community matters. Your future matters. FEDUSA - REPRESENTATION. WORKERS’ RIGHTS. SOCIAL JUSTICE. #FEDUSA #YourVoteMatters #LocalGovernmentElections2026 #Democracy #WorkersVoices #Accountability

🏳️‍🌈 HAPPY PRIDE! | HONOURING OUR HISTORY, CHAMPIONING EQUALITY Pride in South Africa is more than a celebration. It is a reflection of a long and courageous struggle for freedom, dignity, equality and the right to live without discrimination. On 13 October 1990, South Africa made history when approximately 800 people took part in the country’s first Pride march in Johannesburg, organised by the Gay and Lesbian Organisation of the Witwatersrand (GLOW). It was also the first Pride march on the African continent. At a time when apartheid continued to deny people their fundamental freedoms, activists including Simon Nkoli and Beverly Ditsie stood at the forefront of a movement demanding recognition, visibility and equal rights. Their struggle affirmed that the fight against discrimination could not be separated from the broader struggle for freedom and justice. South Africa’s journey marked important milestones. In 1996, our Constitution became the first in the world to explicitly prohibit discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation. In 2006, the Civil Union Act established marriage equality, making South Africa the first country in Africa to recognise same-sex marriage. These achievements remind us that equality was not simply given; it was fought for by generations of activists who refused to accept exclusion and injustice. As the Federation of Unions of South Africa (FEDUSA), we recognise that the struggle for equality extends beyond legislation. It must be reflected in our workplaces, our institutions, our communities and everyday interactions. Every worker deserves dignity, respect, equal opportunities and protection from discrimination, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity or expression. We reaffirm our commitment to building inclusive workplaces, defending human rights and ensuring that no worker is left behind. Pride is history. Pride is resistance. Pride is dignity. Pride is equality. Happy Pride to the LGBTQIA+ community! 🏳️‍🌈 Different identities. Equal rights. One shared commitment to justice. FEDUSA - Stronger Together.

PASSING THE BATON | HONOURING THE LEGACY, EMPOWERING THE FUTURE Leadership is not only about the responsibility we carry today, but also about the legacy we leave behind and the hands into which we entrust the future. The first engagement between FEDUSA’s former President and newly elected President, together with the General Secretary, Deputy General Secretary and Vice-President of Finance, marks an important moment of continuity, reflection and renewal within the Federation. Passing the baton from one generation of leadership to the next is about more than a change in office. It is about sharing institutional knowledge, honouring the sacrifices of those who came before, preserving the values that have shaped the organisation, and empowering a new generation to build on that foundation. These engagements are essential to ensuring that experience is transferred, institutional memory is preserved and leadership transitions strengthen, rather than interrupt, the work of the Federation. As FEDUSA moves forward, this transition reminds us that strong institutions are built when experience meets fresh vision, when wisdom is shared, and when leadership is embraced as a collective responsibility to the workers we serve. The baton is passed. The legacy continues. The future is ours to build. #FEDUSA #PassingTheBaton #LeadershipContinuity #LegacyAndRenewal #WorkersFirst
