There was something extraordinary about the way Sir Patrick Stewart could make even the most powerful characters feel profoundly human.
Whether commanding the bridge of the Enterprise or guiding a generation of young mutants, Sir Patrick Stewart brought a tenderness to his characters that made us feel we knew them. Behind that unmistakable voice was an actor who understood that even the greatest heroes could be uncertain, that strength could exist alongside vulnerability, and that compassion was never a weakness.
Over a career spanning more than six decades, his performances became woven into the lives of generations who grew up watching him. As Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Professor Charles Xavier, and so many others, he left us with characters we loved, lessons we carried, and memories we'll always treasure.
There's not a lot to say that hasn't already been said. Patrick Stewart was to many people an inspiration, an icon, a hero, a legend and many more things. To me, he was Jean-Luc Picard - the man I came to respect for many, many years. He led the group that introduced me to my love for all things space, inclusion, comradery and the family you choose. These are just some of the aspects of my life that he had a significant role in shaping. I know i wouldn't be the person I am without his influence, his love of others and his quirky personality. I'm honestly crushed right now.
Farewell, Captain. I'll continue to follow your example. Thank you.
What a heartbreaking week it has been. Sir Patrick Stewart was a friend, a colleague, and a magnificent actor. From the stage to the bridge of the Enterprise, he brought intelligence, grace, and a deep sense of humanity to everything he did. Captain Picard stood for the best of us, and so did the man who played him. I was filled with affection and admiration for him and his work.
My heart goes out to Sunny and his family. He will be deeply missed.
I'm so done with 2026

Many of my followers are saying, "We're 6-0! Nothing needs to change!"
I take the exact opposite approach: *Because* the Vikings are 6-0, they need to make a change at quarterback.
It's time for the Vikings' experiment with Kyler Murray to end.
The Vikings have the league's best defense and best special teams. Those occurrences don't happen often and almost never simultaneously.
Meanwhile, the Vikings offense is among the league's worst, if not the worst. Its 10 touchdowns are the fewest by a 6-0 team in 94 years, the first year after the forward pass was legalized in the NFL. During Minnesota's 11-game winning streak, kicker Will Reichard has contributed more points than the offense, defense, and returners combined.
The Vikings rank 29th in passing yards and 31st in touchdowns scored (thanks, Titans!).
Today's Vikings offense is very unlikely to run the gauntlet of playoff teams to reach the Super Bowl. Minnesota will almost certainly squander this generational opportunity if they don't improve their quarterback play. And they may frustrate Justin Jefferson enough to lose him in the offseason.
There was offseason optimism that Kevin O'Connell could work some magic on Murray to revive a career on life support. But Murray's sample size has grown big enough to draw firm conclusions. The Minnesota version of Kyler Murray isn't different from the version in Arizona last year when he was benched for Jacoby Brissett.
On Sunday, Murray had all of his weapons healthy and faced a battered Colts defense missing three cornerbacks, including Sauce Gardner. Murray completed 14 passes for 150 yards and 1 score.
The only positives for Murray are his lack of interceptions and his periodic scrambles for first downs. But that's not nearly enough to balance the scales against his passing deficiencies.
Can we hope that Kyler Murray improves? I guess, but I'm reminded of the axiom, "Hope is not a strategy."
Carson Wentz represents a minor upgrade over Murray, but not enough to win a Super Bowl, even with a great defense.
It's not easy to improve the quarterback position during the season. But it's not impossible. The Giants appear to have just done it.
Nolan Teasley should be hesitant to spend the draft capital he'll want next April--his first NFL draft as general manager. But he should also realize that the 2026 Vikings are in a remarkable position that simply requires functional play from its quarterback.
It appears there's no single super-power team in the NFL. The 2026 Vikings have a real chance to reach the Super Bowl, but only if they find a quarterback to hoist the offense out of the cellar.
