🎃 Let’s keep Halloween spooky, not scary! Whether you are trick-or-treating or driving through neighborhoods tomorrow, safety is a shared responsibility. FLHSMV and FHP remind everyone to follow these vital safety habits to ensure all ghosts and goblins make it home safely: 🚶 For Pedestrians & Trick-or-Treaters: -Be Visible: Wear bright colors, glow sticks, or reflective gear so drivers can easily spot you in the dark. Having a flashlight handy is also suggested. -Watch For Traffic: Always look both ways before crossing the street and never dart out from between parked cars. -Walk in Groups: Stick together on sidewalks when available and always ensure a trusted adult is close by. 🚗 For Drivers: -Slow Down: Keep your speed 5-10 mph under the limit in residential neighborhoods. -Be Alert for Kids: Expect the unexpected. Excited children may unaware of traffic and dart into the street. -Keep Headlights On: Make your vehicle as visible as possible to kids whose costumes or masks might limit their peripheral vision. We’re throwing it back to show our OG Mustangs some love 💕🐎 The Florida Highway Patrol introduced the Fox Body Ford Mustang Special Service Package (SSP) vehicles in 1983 and patrolled Florida’s highways for 11 years before retirement. In 2025, our agency brought the famed model back with its V-8 powered Ford Mustang GT. Just a couple months ago, our 2023 Ford Mustang 5.0 GT brought home another America's Best-Looking Cruiser title for Florida! @America250FL #tbt #FHP

☀️In just 10 minutes, the inside of a vehicle can heat up by 20 degrees. 🥵With Florida temperatures very high in summer, leaving a child or pet in the car—even if parked in the shade or with windows cracked open—is extremely dangerous. A child’s body temperature can rise three to five times faster than an adult's. In fact, heatstroke in a vehicle can occur as low as 57° outside! 🚫NEVER leave your child or pet unattended in your vehicle. It’s deadly and against the law. Protect your kids and pets with these tips: -Account for all children exiting the vehicle so none are left inside. -Keep your vehicles locked in the driveway or garage. -Store keys out of reach so children can’t lock themselves in. 👀🔒 Look before you lock.
