Holly called it Classic + on stage.
They called SoD a test run for it.
They teased it by putting plusses on that pdf thing, then later Holly teased it by saying "All classic players have a lot to look forward to- I'll save that for later".
They referenced the Classic+ community survey in the reveal.
They invited exclusively classic streamers to come test it.
They called it a forever home for classic players. (Where do you think the Forever comes from)
They said they would develop the game in a way that honors classic.
They showed a clip on stage of Xaryu saying nobody can agree on what classic + should be.
A wow 2 even just being built on the 2004 version of the game rather than just doing it with a world revamp on retail would be odd on its own.
Guys how are some of you still coping your way into arguing this is not classic +. I have no idea what possibly could convince you at that point.

The retail crowd reminds me a lot of the runescape 3 crowd.
They see the older version of the game becoming popular, they want to implement their favorite parts from the modern version without understanding that those are the exact reasons why the older version is more popular
