This Friday streaming returns and we’re going to use OG Neo Geo hardware for the first time on stream. I owe @FULLSET_Collect some Overserved action so maybe the stars will align and we can debut that there! If timing doesn’t work, we have quite a few other things to discuss.
Because all our carts have it, I wanted to enable the UPDATES menu work on Dreamcast as well. Well, here we go, can download up to 100KB patches (compressed and signed) with a maximum of 256KB additional data next to patching existing bytes. Profiler patch as a demo in the video. If you save them on a VMU (optional), the game auto-detects and load them on startup. That should get us quite a long way for critical patches related to online matches, etc... It can alternative load whole games instead of patching the existing one on the disc :)
Been through the same thing with Steam; even the big three consoles players were faster with their reviews. Crossing fingers this goes through soon now! 🤞
Submitted for review on Oct 3rd. Steam states 3–5 business days, up to 7 if feedback is needed. Final approval is still pending...
The game is ready and will launch as soon as Steam approves it.

Goes through power up, eye catcher, title screen and gameplay.
I've massively optimized the x68000 original to run fantastically on the Neo Geo.

Side overlays and animations are in.. also obstacles and all on the game field are compleyed y-ordered. You can really feel the depth now like in no game of this kind before. Oh, and please ignore the bot madness, it's the last piece we're tuning now, along with some sprites :)

@asha_shar please fix this! everytime i try playing anything on my xbox i run into issues. imho the os/dashboard is what holds back xbox the most. please confirm 😬

Internal QA passed, anyone around for some semi-public beta test with their cart? :) You might wanna play the current/previous version one more time, but I'm sure people will feel the difference nonetheless in terms of performance! 🏎️
Thanks for asking, guess I had to go through all the changes again in preparation for the release anyway:
- New "course selection" mode (needs new SOFT DIP set on MVS)
- New intro animations
- 80%+ framedrop reduction
- Updated AES menu
- New gameplay recording for attract mode, now also allowing us to add a few different ones in the future
- New AES pause menu (RESUME / EXIT)
- Skip the game over and hi-score screens with A
- Hi-score name entry: new DEL key, fixed backspace
- Updated credits roll
- Boss polish: L1 dock fades in from white, L3 death explosions spread out
- Smoother ship banking, and left+right now cancel each other like up+down do (the latter not being too relevant to the Neo Geo version ;))
- Title screen: PRESS START blinks, idle free play goes back to attract
- Better Wi-Fi scene: rescan, and a proper message when no networks are found
- Cart firmware: faster, verified updates and more reliable Wi-Fi scanning
- Some smaller fixes, like power ups not being cleaned up when dying during "catch em all" attempt
Achievements are prepared but are planned for a future version. Same as fast-forwarding credits by keeping A pressed, unless I'll still sneak that in should anything else come back from QA that warrants a new release candidate :)
