BREAKING: SCHOOL FEES DEADLINE EXTENDED!
FUNAABites, through the intervention of the Students' Union, the school fees payment deadline has been EXTENDED by another week, from October 31st to November 7th.
Please take advantage of this extension and ensure your payment is completed within the new timeframe.
I've been seeing some posts blaming FUNAAB's Health Centre for Benjamin's death, and TBH, I think we need to be careful about how we discuss this.
I'm not saying this to defend anybody blindly, but the narrative being pushed online is NOT entirely accurate. Before you draw conclusions, you need to UNDERSTAND the situation beyond what you've heard.
After hours of involvement, investigation and sourcing for information, Benjamin, a 300-level PPCP student, walked to the University's Health Centre, was admitted on Monday and was reportedly getting better on Tuesday. His condition later took a turn for the worse that midnight, and he was referred to FMC immediately.
Sadly, he passed away. It is a painful situation, but we need to understand the full picture before assigning blame.
Benjamin was also living with sickle cell disease (SS), a condition that can be unpredictable and life-threatening, REGARDLESS of the care a person receives.
This doesn't mean we should stop asking questions, but we must recognise that not every loss of life can be pinned on one hospital or institution without the full medical facts.
THE BIGGER PROBLEM IS THE COUNTRY'S HEALTHCARE SYSTEM AS A WHOLE.
Emergency response time, access to modern technology, and even the affordability and availability of life-saving equipment remain serious challenges in this country. Healthcare professionals can only work with the resources available to them, and sometimes, despite their efforts, lives are still lost.
This is a reality we must confront as a nation, NOT farming audience on TikTok with the boy's death.
And please, be mindful of what you post online. THE MANAGEMENT DOESN'T JOKE WITH THEIR IMAGE, especially when it's a false allegation.
"Soro bose wun ee, online lo wa", okay.
Some of the claims being made are serious, and I won't be in a position to defend anyone who publishes allegations without verifying them.
Whatever YOU post is YOUR responsibility.
Drag Anybody, drag Timzy, we see everything. There's a bit of fun in it, but NOT the management, cause TikTok won't solve the problem.
I'm the SUG PRO, but that doesn't mean I'll tell you only what you want to hear. Before you criticise, UNDERSTAND what you're criticising. I'm not asking anyone to keep quiet; I'm asking that we get our facts right.
A life has been lost. Let us handle the situation with sense, not speculation. Ire oo. 💔🕊
FUNAABites, we will be converging at COPLANT this evening, Friday, 30 October, 6:00pm for a candlelight session in honour of our late colleague, Oluyemi Benjamin Oluwadamilare, as we pay our last respects.
May his soul rest in perfect peace.🕊💔
It is with deep sadness that the Students’ Union Government announces the passing of Oluyemi Benjamin Oluwadamilare, a 300-Level student of Plant Physiology and Crop Production (PPCP), who passed away on Wednesday evening, 28 October 2026, following complications related to sickle cell disease.
His passing is a painful loss to the FUNAAB community. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, coursemates and all those who knew and loved him. We pray that God grants them the strength and comfort to bear this difficult loss.
May his soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.
