Food takes the largest share of spending in most Nigerian households, so food prices directly shape inflation. With @Nairametrics, I discuss how lower food prices could help bring inflation down. Full interview: youtube.com/watch?v=Zhdpwn00…

The Lagos State Government is quick to threaten and punish residents for sinking “illegal” boreholes, yet shows little urgency in fulfilling its most basic responsibility to provide clean, safe and potable water to millions of households. A government that cannot guarantee access to water has no moral justification for criminalising the desperate efforts of citizens to meet this basic human need. This is the tragedy of APC governance. An administration with little understanding of the public good, more interested in rent-seeking, and using regulation as a tool of exploitation. For the many name changes from AD to APC , One thing has stayed consistent, this government doesn't not prioritise the need for people to have drinking water, despite hundreds of million dollars in loans and grants taking even the water corporation offices themselves have no water. The APC met 10 mini waterworks that Jakande built as well as Adiyan Water Works Phase II was 80% complete. They claimed that it was 85% complete in December 2025. As of today, it is STILL not functioning. Lagosians are surrounded by water, yet they have no access to government provided potable water, Yet this criminal government forget that access to clean and safe drinking water is a fundamental human right. They are never passionate about service delivery , their passion is only activated when they can take more money from people that are barely getting by, inspite of their failures to deliver services that justify the taxes and IGR they generate. #Ourlagos

The Borno State government is using the same Sharia law to sentence her to prison, even though they know she is Christian. To those saying Sharia law doesn't affect a non-Muslim, I hope you have seen this. If you like, allow them to introduce it to your states.
I just saw a news on AriseNews where a woman was sentenced to 14 years in prison for converting a muslim adult to a Christian in Borno, and people aren’t talking about it enough. Are we even okay in this country???????

Why would I not call an expenditure that drives local consumption an investment? What is an investment? “An investment is the act of allocating money, time, resources, or capital into assets, projects, or businesses with the expectation of generating future profit, income, or capital appreciation” If I support cattle herders today to grow their business, is that not an investment?

Nigeria is considering a fresh external borrowing plan worth approximately $20.5 billion, alongside another $1 billion proposal. The proposed funds are expected to support critical sectors including power, transportation, healthcare, agriculture, education, water, security and job creation. But with Nigeria already carrying a significant debt burden, the big question is: Will this borrowing accelerate development, or push the country deeper into a debt trap? Both. The country has to audit the Civil Service and cost drivers and activities. Also, the country has the potential to increase its current level of revenue. I strongly believe Nigeria can increase it's revenue by 150%.

My Gen Z daughter announced at Sunday dinner that she was moving out because I was “toxic.” I nearly choked on my water. At 21, Madison had never paid rent, bought groceries for the house, or paid a single electricity bill. I had covered her university fees, bought her a laptop, and even paid for a weekend trip with her friends because she said she needed a break from studying. But apparently, asking her to wash the dishes twice a week made me toxic. “Mom, you don’t respect my boundaries,” she announced, scrolling through her phone. I asked what boundary I had crossed. “You keep asking me where I’m going and when I’ll be back. I’m an adult.” I nodded. “Fair enough. Adults also pay their own bills.” She dropped her phone onto the table. “Why do you always make everything about money?” I calmly explained that she was free to move out whenever she wanted, but I wouldn’t continue paying for an apartment she chose without discussing a budget. She laughed. “Girl, I’ll figure it out. My friends have my back.” The following weekend, she packed three suitcases and left. I watched her drive away, wondering whether I had been too strict. Then, on Monday morning, I received a call from her landlord. Apparently, my daughter had listed me as her guarantor without my permission.

Why have we demonized energy subsidies in Nigeria when it is a norm in other countries? Is it perhaps the method and the lack of transparency that we should review? @FinPlanKaluAja1 breaks it down with me on the Coffee table, catch full episode on our YouTube

I'm sorry but I just want to ask this question: don't you people want to try to have a president who likes you? Like, just someone who likes you, someone who toasts you to power. Who is afraid of loosing you? Who cares about wooing you? Who actually likes you?

An IPMAN official told Nairametrics this about petrol buyers: "Anywhere the commuters see that the product is very cheap and low, they will queue up, they don't care. They can spend three days to be able to buy it." Three days in a queue to save a few naira a litre. That's not brand loyalty dying. That's what household budgets look like when fuel is this big a share of spending. nairametrics.com/2026/10/20/…

If we don’t want a critical society, let’s just say it openly. If this is not a democracy, let’s be clear about it. Stop bullying journalists. What’s wrong in asking a man if his wife’s highly important role in election won’t interfere with his overt partisan stance? Obviously, it’s okay for the husband to defend the honour and professional ability of his spouse. That should be the summary of the whole exchange.
