Not sure if an angel gets its wings, but something splended surely has to happen when #OhioState is eliminated from the #CFP after only nine games.

RECTIFY (2013–2016) is a masterpiece that never found the audience it deserved. Aden Young gives an extraordinary performance as a man trying to rebuild his life after 19 years on death row. Patient, deeply moving storytelling that stays with you long after the final episode.
#GodzillaMinusOne and #GodzillaMinusZero are, thankfully, two almost completely different #movies, and each have their virtues for sure. Just saw Zero and it's still swimming around in my brain.
If you read one thing today, make it this great NY Times interview with @Illeanarama Illeana Douglas about her new book about George Cukor's sensational "The Women," "Jungle Red!" Need to get my hands on that asap.

Best possible homework, watched masterpiece #GodzillaMinusOne again to prepare for #GodzillaMinusZeroは傑作です and if anything it’s even better than I remembered. Can’t wait to find out Saturday if the sequel can somehow top it.

T2 TRAINSPOTTING is a sequel about the one thing the original couldn’t prepare its characters for: getting older. Boyle brings them back to the places and memories that defined their youth, only to confront them with the reality that they can’t go back.
What sequels released 15 or more years after the original were actually GOOD?
The ones that managed to recapture what made the first film special without feeling like an unnecessary cash grab.
A few examples that come to mind are 28 YEARS LATER, DOCTOR SLEEP, TOP GUN: MAVERICK and BLADE RUNNER 2049.
What other long-delayed sequels genuinely delivered?

SPOTLIGHT was released 11 years ago today.
During research, the filmmakers uncovered an earlier Boston Globe story about abusive priests that the newspaper had buried in the 1990s. The discovery became part of the film.
Best #NewMusicFriday release is also for my money the new best #hiphop album of 2026 so far, so give #LilBaby's #Fresh a spin today for sure.
Put this at least in the top 5 of all #movies I'm looking forward, The Further Misadventures of Cliff Booth. Written by Tarantino, directed by Fincher, perfection, so bring it on and enjoy this trailer.

#Arsenal have seven games in three weeks immediately after the international break, including Newcastle, Tottenham and Brentford away, and City and Real Madrid at home, with Bukayo Saka out. A two week rest for Noni Madueke could be a godsend for us, and extra motivation for him.

They Live (1988)
Genius and kind of very relevant to what is happening today with all our technology controlling us.
Another Carpenter masterpiece with an extremely unique casting choice as the lead that worked beyond anyone's expectations.
Carpenter casting then Well Known WWF Wrestler Rowdy Roddy Piper as his leading man was a ballsy choice but it paid off.
The Writing, Direction and casting of this film was all top shelf.
This was another Carpenter Classic I would see on DVD for the first time in the 2000's. These are the type of films I had heard of but could never get my hands on a VHS copy to watch and they never played on TV where I lived either.
This film has become so prophetic in so many ways. It has also added so much praise to the legacies of both Carpenter and Piper. This film really proved Piper was a talented actor and not just a wrestler. He had range.
I Literally cannot believe how great this film is.
Ranking: 10/10 📽️🎞️🍿

He protected Italian cuisine is what he did.
He was a brave Italian chef.
And in this house, he's a hero.

Hadn’t watched The Nice Guys for a few years, and man, #movies just don’t get much funnier. A perfect buddy comedy with Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling, and no surprise since virtually all of Shane Black’s movies are bangers.
Listening to it again today just confirms Phoebe Bridgers' Lost Weekend is easily my favorite album of 2026 so far. It's just a weird, witty little wonder, so spin it for sure.

Nicolas Cage in Pig was special. It’s a performance more people should remember. Why? Because it completely flipped Cage-based expectations on its head. The loud, over-the-top "classic Nic Cage" acting style that defined basically his entire career is absent in this film. Here, he gives a performance that was incredibly subdued. It speaks to Cage’s range, which I’m learning is deeper than I thought.
