De acuerdo a cifras la Federación de Instituciones Mexicanas Particulares de Educación Superior (FIMPES), en México hay ~2500-3000 IES privadas; 113 forman parte de FIMPES, con >930,000 alumnos inscritos en más de 400 campus universitarios ubicados en 31 entidades. /1
