We're supporting the @BandBassoc in campaigning for financial aid to B&Bs who pay council tax but are ineligible for grant aid from @hmtreasury.
Today we have written to every MP in Parliament, telling them about the plight of the #counciltax paying B&Bs denied grants and asking them to help persuade @hmtreasury to make them available to all the genuine B&Bs who need them. Our letter is here: conta.cc/2VY1Zbd

Yes many small B&Bs say their Council ADVISED them to stay on #counciltax. As a result they don’t now qualify for #grant. Could that advice be partly because it’s in the Council’s financial interest? @RobertJenrick @mhclg or @LGAcomms may know. We raised this question with @DCMS
The problem is B&B’s have been advised by local councils to carry on paying council tax.It has now come to my attention that all council tax goes to local council funding. I am lead to believe business rate do not! I will be looking into this issue.

Small B&Bs are the sweet spot of Welsh #Tourism but the Covid-19 #lockdown is killing us. #Scotland will pay the Covid-19 grants to B&Bs that pay only #CouncilTax rather than #BusinessRates. Will #Wales do the same? If not why not? @WelshTourism @elisthomasd @BandBassoc
