Quick thoughts: Agree 100% with Marcin’s tweet only a couple of points: - This debacle has redeemed Milan owner Gerry Cardinale ever so slightly too. Why? Because it’s absolutely evident that Paolo Maldini is completely incapable of working in a team with other people. He is a my way or the highway kind of guy. The fact that he was prepared to die on the Pirlo hill is utterly as absurd as it is demonstrative of an unbelievable immaturity as a director. Maldini is one of the greatest players the game has ever seen. People need to stop conflating the fantastic player with the spoiled child antics of the director. - Malagò on the other hand has decades of experience building sporting organizations that work & deliver results. He’s a diplomat who knows how to get everyone moving in the same direction. If Leonardo & Maldini cant understand why Pirlo was unworkable & unsellable as Italy coach then them leaving is a blessing. Malagò’s mistake was appointing them in the first place. - Regardless despite Malagò’s tenure starting off in a shaky way to put it mildly, he has learned from this experience & he will build a solid team that is a TEAM. For Maldini, well let’s just say this behavior shows why he’s not had any jobs since being sacked by Cardinale.
