Rory McIlroy appears to have been awarded a 2 shot penalty on the par 4 12th hole changing his double bogey 6 to a quadruple bogey 8. It’s unclear what it’s for, but there was a video circulating earlier that appeared to show him improving his lie in the rough after a chip came up short and rolled back to his feet. His score now shows up as a 2 under par 70 on the leaderboard. Rory played today with Eugenio Chacarra and Patrick Reed in Abu Dhabi.

Justin Thomas is paired with rookie Jackson Koivun today at the Presidents Cup. Justin has taken Jackson under his wing this week, and he spoke about the relationship ahead of the first day of action: “Yeah, he's impressive. He's a really, really good player, first and foremost, but he's a great kid. He's got his head on right. Hats off to his parents; they've done an unbelievable job. He's very, very mature for his age. I think that's something you can't -- none of us could instill in him in a week. “I think the fact that he has the maturity and the correct outlook on everything, he's obviously really competitive and he's obviously really talented. I'm excited for him this week. It's going to be an awesome experience for him.” Justin and Jackson are in the third match of the day for the US Team at Medinah against Corey Conners and Nico Echavarria for the Internationals. @PresidentsCup @JustinThomas34
