#Thread One of the first and most persistent question a non-profit organisation faces is: what is your area of work? We started with three broad strands:
1) Knowledge Creation
2) Capacity Building
3) Legal aid and advocacy

In UP, a man has shot his 19-year-old daughter dead because she did not want to get into an arranged marriage and wanted to marry of her choice. This is a growing group of vulnerable women who are of age group 18-25 who face domestic violence at their parental home simply because they want to do something more with their lives than just marriage and motherhood. The government's existing system is not sufficient for this group but we at @FemAllianceIn are providing the support required for them. We have already helped one such women to leave her parental home where she was facing violence and she is now living and independent Happy violence free life. It's not easy to work on this issue but we are determined that no woman should have violence simply because they want more from life than just marriage and babies.

Another case of #honourkilling. Young women of 18-25 face domestic violence at parental home simply because they want more from their lives than just marriage and motherhood. The government's existing systems not sufficient this group. #violenceagainstwomen #domesticviolence

I am observing closely how the newly catapulted democracy ka messiah Abhijit Dipke did not speak a word about the widespread women's safety protests across Delhi. The self-proclaimed samaj ke thekedars and democracy ke saviours have drawn a clear line between national political issues and "women's issues". The message is clear, women's issues are not public issues, women are not full citizens or full humans. Their problem is secondary to the national issues men must deliberate upon.
We are ready with our posters for the evening walk at Delhi's Dwarka and Mahavir Enclave area. An informal impromptu initiative by
@FemAllianceIn and Dwarka Collective.

When I was registering my organisation @FemAllianceIn people told me don't use the "feminist" word in the name. It will discourage funding agencies corporates and other organisations from collaboration. But i decided to stick to it. The name itself is the message. It is my attempt to spark conversation on reclaiming feminism from being misused and misunderstood.
Now, within just 1.5 years, with the youth protests and political leaders like @RahulGandhi directly challenging patriarchy and taking up the issue of violence against women within home and family, feminism is gaining ground amongst young Indians. I am so glad i kept the name.

Feminists are not doing that. Self proclaimed or mis-identified faux feminists are. Everybody is not a feminist. To be a feminist you need to have understanding of feminist theories, practices and epistemology. Not studying feminism results in the bad name it gets.
Feminists are on a mission to remove accountability from women.
Anything wrong done by a woman can be justified by feminists. Shifting the blame is their modus operandi.
> Infidelity & praternity fraud - blame emotional unavailability of husband
> Murder of fiance - blame parents for forced marriage
> Salary difference - blame gender pay gap
> Toxicity in relationships - blame hormones
> Pre-marital abortion - blame the boyfriend for sex on pretext of marriage
> Abusive behaviour - blame childhood trauma
> If anything else - blame patriarchy, blame men, blame marriage.
True empowerment isn't just about demanding equal rights; it is about carrying the equal weight of consequences. You cannot be an independent, empowered adult while demanding to be treated like a child incapable of doing wrong.

par blame na aaye.."
