The world is struggling to keep this #Ebola at bay and the people who should be behaving better are killing health workers.
Terrible!!!
Yesterday, a nurse was killed and a health worker severely injured after they were attacked while responding to an #Ebola alert in the town of Bafwasende, Tshopo province, #DRC.
Our deepest condolences go to the family, colleagues and friends of the lost nurse. We also wish a swift and full recovery to his injured colleague who remains hospitalized.
Everyone working to protect communities from this deadly disease must be able to work in dignity and safety. Healthcare must always be protected.

Uganda has zero Ebola cases!

One African to another…even when you chased Africans for “jobs” this is a class act
On behalf of the government and people of South Africa, I offer warm congratulations to His Excellency President @PaulKagame and the government and people of Rwanda on securing a 10-year agreement to host the Formula 1 African Grand Prix.
South Africa shares in the pride with which Rwanda is preparing to fly the chequered flag for our continent with the hosting of a globally prestigious event at the planned Bugesera circuit from the early 2030s.
This contract is a recognition of the capabilities of the Rwandan nation and of our continent more broadly.
As host of the first Grand Prix on African soil in 1993, and organiser of other major global events, South Africa will be happy to provide any support we may be invited to share.
The F1 African Grand Prix is another lustrous addition to Rwanda’s growing collection of top international events, including the UCI-classified Tour du Rwanda cycling race.
Congratulations, Rwanda.
You are in pole position to make all of Africa proud and take motorsport to new heights.

UGANDA AIRLINES’ progress deserves recognition.
In today’s Daily Monitor, I reflect on Girma Wake’s turnaround, improving reliability, smarter network planning and, perhaps most importantly, the value of professional autonomy.
There is reason for optimism.

TOURISM
HON @DrWakida , tourism has the potential of bringing in an inflow of usd 1bn dollars per month.
If we managed our internal communication well for 3 continuous years minus marketing, the private sector has the potential to attract usd 200m monthly.
Aggressive Marketing added would double figure by the 3rd year. Tourism whole sellers are as angry as the private sector in uganda.
When they invest in resources and energy, someone makes a statement and we go to zero, efforts drained immediately.
They want stable market as well because they benefit too.
EBOLA TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS - LOSS OF $115M DOLLAR
INFLOW - HOTELS EMPTY
📌Tourism is $1.36B per year = $113M per month in physical cash dollars exchanged daily in Kampala forex bureaus – direct support to UGX. (Second biggest cash inflow after gold).
📌Effect: August 2026 Ebola-Sudan strain in Mubende – 42 cases. US CDC Level 2 Alert, UK FCDO and EU advisories - still active as of 7th October 2026
though Ministry of Health @MinofHealthUG declared Mubende controlled on 25th September –
need 42 days clear plus @WHO certification to lift.
📌September arrivals 18,400 vs
48,000 last year (-62% per MTWA). Occupancy Murchison Falls 12%, Bwindi 15%, Kasese 18%. Q3 loss $85M plus $30M FDI appraisal missions postponed.
📌Airlines cut Entebbe frequencies, coffee buyers cancelled origin trips delaying coffee dollars 30 days, tour operators now keep advance bookings offshore in Kigali and Nairobi accounts – not bringing dollars home.
📌Hotels empty means no dollars to sell to bureaus – traders rush for little available USD.
SOLUTIONS:
📌Within 48 hours, @MinofHealthUG should publish public 42-day countdown dashboard per district online – show Mubende already 14 days clear, Kidepo and Bwindi 400km away zero cases , share daily with Embassies - Rwanda used same to lift Marburg advisories in 21 days in 2024.
📌 Within 7 days – President @KagutaMuseveni should direct @MinofHealthUG plus @MTWAUganda joint letter to
@WHO and Ambassadors requesting district-based advisory – lift for safe parks Kidepo, Bwindi, Mgahinga – not country-wide ban – Kenya model 2025.
📌 Within 14 days – Introduce $20 rapid PCR test certificate at Entebbe –
"Tested Safe Uganda" and allow hotels/tour operators to sell forward bookings at 3,900 to get dollars now – brings $40M advance monthly.
RESULT: $115M returns, bureaus get dollars daily, UGX supported.

When you have been rich throughout your adult life you can't relate to the common person. Classic Marie Antoinette syndrome. I'm surprised he didn't also say we should eat cake if we're starving.

No one is going to put restrictions on Kenya, just observe and see and by the way, that patient didn’t pass through Uganda at all.
Uganda is free from that, let’s avoid mentioning Uganda please.
Everyone knows Kenya will put up a fight should anybody try to restrict them from free movement or Tourists.
