Sometimes, two things can be true: I understand, and I’m still disappointed. I don’t blame you, but I wish things were different. I know you’re doing what you can, but I wish I could experience a little more care, too.
And neither feeling cancels the other out.
Sometimes, I don’t want to be the person everyone trusts to figure things out. I want to be someone’s soft spot, too. Someone they worry about, check on and instinctively want to take care of, without assuming I’ll always be fine.
