Going through the discussions on capital gains taxes. Some are hell bent on paying these taxes. We should not deny them that privilege. We should introduce an opt in and opt out system. Those who want to pay capital gains taxes can opt in. The rest of us should be opted out by default.

Paid my Indusind Bank credit card bill just 12 hours past the due date. And by then, the bank had already set the vasooli machinery in motion! šŸ˜‚ IndusInd had apparently engaged a recovery agency to collect the outstanding amount. The agency had even emailed me about it. I then realised that I'd also received a call from them that very morning, which I had missed. So, within 12 hours of the payment deadline, a recovery agency was already on the case! Is this normal? Engaging a recovery agency for a credit card payment that's overdue by less than 24 hours, even when the bill has since been cleared? @MyIndusIndBank @IndusIndCare

Hindustan Unilever (HUL) wants to pay non-executive directors upto ₹15 crore or 1% of company's net profit, whichever lower, for a 5-year period starting April 1, 2026. This increase is almost 4X of current limit of ₹4 crore. This seems absurdly high for a non-executive director, even as an enabling provision and almost double of the nearest example I could see, of which there seem to be only a handful. HUL raised remuneration ceiling from ₹3 crore to ₹4 crore only in June 2024 as per @bsindia.

Gold has proved its mettle as a diversifier over the long period. But not without long periods of doing nothing šŸ‘‡šŸ» -Don’t make short-term bets on it, especially after the recent rally -Right horizon to hold gold is forever, says @dhirendra_vr -Limit to 10-15% as its primary role is that of a diversifier Most importantly, gold coins and jewellery are the leakiest form of gold. Digital gold too carries upto 6% costs. Buy them for prosperity on Dhanteras, not as investments Full Story: livemint.com/money/personal-…

🚨 PARAGUAY šŸ‡µšŸ‡¾ RIOTS IN THE STREETS AFTER 3 MILLION PEOPLE GOT LOCKED OUT OF THEIR OWN MONEY The central bank shut down Ueno Bank, one of the biggest banks in the country. 3 million customers. About 60% of all adults in Paraguay. Salaries. Pensions. Savings. FROZEN. No app. No cards. No ATMs. Even $380 million of the state pension fund is stuck inside. Covid locked people inside their homes. This locked them out of their own money. Then it turned POLITICAL. President Santiago PeƱa, the right-wing friend of Milei and Kast, was a SHAREHOLDER in Ueno's holding company until 2025. And the man he picked to run the central bank in 2023 used to run Ueno. Within 24 hours: • the central bank chief signed his resignation after PeƱa asked for it • Ueno's CEO handed himself in to police, 5 more executives DETAINED • crowds in central Asunción demanding PeƱa's exit • the opposition pushing to impeach him The last time Paraguay's banks broke, in 1995, more than half of them went down. If you want the parts of this story Paraguay's government would rather you never heard, follow me.

What if people who don't support need for removal / reduction of LTCG tax continue to pay these taxes even if these taxes are removed. Then both sides will be happy- right?

This tweet is not about stocks in Demat but mutual funds. Avoid mutual funds in Demat mode. Use official AMC portals for all your mutual fund investments.
Use official AMC portals for all your investments. Avoid all other apps. Avoid mutual funds in dmat mode. If you are really a long-term investor, you are going to set up your investments - one-time. AMC websites are more than enough.

Will be bad for MFDs as many will sell of regular funds and move to direct funds . Huge loss of trail commissions for MFDs
SEBI's recommendation to exempt mutual fund switches from LTCG tax, will lead to more churn. Investors already chase last year's winners. If switching becomes tax-free, what stops them from hopping between funds every year?

Removal of LTCG should normally add around 5% to the market values of stocks. We have almost seen this much bounce in the Sensex and Nifty Future moves will be interesting to see #LTCG
