Thank you so much @PyroScience for sponsoring our new project called FieldResp🥳
We were dreaming of building a field #respirometry station for years. Now, due to your cutting-edge DO sensors that can be easily integrated with open electronics modules, all our dreams come true!
We have finally reached the point when the hardware development & testing stage is over. It is time for creating assembly instructions and writing a methodological paper. Stay tuned🐠#respirometry
NOTE that the modules PumpResp and SwimResp are @Pyro_Science-friendly as well😉
Wow! @Pyro_Science, one of the best sensor manufacture company, is on Twitter now!!!
We have used their DO sensors in our DIY #respirometry systems: really robust probes, meters and software. Highly recommended!

As I understand from Frederik's call, 1W is the upper power limit. Ideally, it could be 5V up to 200mA with PWM to regulate flow electronically.
The only option for now is a Chinese pump (i.e. 5 VDC motor encapsulated in a water-resistant case). But quality is questionable.
Those four salmons right after 24h respirometry trials, feeling good👍

Our DIY respirometry system has been successfully tested with Atlantic salmon (300-500g) at @LammiStation
Recipe:
1) pump controller 'PumpResp'
2) DO meter 'SensResp' and sensors
3) four 8L-chambers
4) two weeks for assembly
5) total budget: 1500$

Massive DO probe calibration📊📈📉
⁉️Have you ever used Atlas Scientific DO sensors? If yes, please let me know, I need your advice🆘
Bonus question: how many sensors are in the photo?😉

Respirometry in Excel: recording and plotting real-time data directly from Arduino & DO sensors!
The last step of 10x cheaper intermittent-respirometry system has been developed. Testing the 4-channel system with 1-500g salmons is ongoing🐟 #respirometry #arduino #fishsci
Non-commercial respirometry systems will be presented today at 11.25 am BST (in 25 minutes)!
Join the "Open Electronics" session at #SEB2021 if you are curious about PumpResp and SensResp devices!

Welcome to our YouTube channel🐠
The first video introduces #respirometry system that costs 1/3 of the cheapest commercial alternative. Some homemade fish jazz was used as video background, so turn ON sound if you are curious about it🦈🎸🎹

These four homemade #respirometry chambers cost less than 200€ in total + one week of work. They are suitable for fish from 0.5g to 500g and have a robust design.
A commercial alternative for the same kit: >3000€
That is how #DIY approach releases money for actual research🤑

It depends on the size of an organism. You can connect any pump powered by 3-12 V.
As an example of the pumps we used, look at the photo: white 5V pumps were used for fish with a mass 0.5-7 g, 12V black pumps - for larger fish as they are quite powerful despite their size.
PumpResp - a DIY pump controller for intermittent-flow #respirometry suitable for fish from 0.5 to 500 g.
Connect up to four chambers, regulate power of each pump, record phase information to PC.
Well-integrated with #pyroscience DO meters.
Budget: 120$.
Purely open-source!
