Wanted to share some great news I received from my last blood draw regarding my prostate cancer: The lowest measurement for a PSA level is 0.02 and my level was BELOW that, meaning it is microscopic/undetectable. Woohoo! Winning! I will remain on my meds for 18 more months. 🤞🤞

Terrible take. Baseball is made for the radio. Do execs even know how many fans started as fans by having access on AM radio? Apparently not.

After 20+ years behind the mic, I'll say it plainly: radio is still the most direct line from a team to its fans. It's in the car, on the job site, on the tractor. No paywall, no login, just a voice painting the picture. Baseball was built for that, and it still is. The game in its purest form.

Imagine trying to explain all of today’s bullshit roughing the passer penalties to Ray Nitschke.

Hmmm. Anyone remember another team with such a postseason streak?
The Brewers 8-game playoff win streak is tied for the longest winning streak ever within a single postseason according to MLB's postgame notes.

I mean - objectively this is hilarious. But in the world where Matthew Golden was penalized and later fined for taunting by doing a simple flex, how can this exist and subsequently be promoted by the NFL?!?
Did we miss somebody? 😅 @Lions

MLB has more varied champions than other leagues, but it’s a fact that either the Rays or Brewers will be the rare new champs to come from the lower end of the revenue spectrum. And maintaining a championship roster is fundamentally harder for them than it is for high rev teams.

If the 2026 MLB season is proof that small-market teams are not at a structural disadvantage, then it is also proof that Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Cal Raleigh are two of the worst players in baseball.

From 1995-2026, 94.7% of the time, a team that "cared about winning" enough to rank in the top 10 in payroll just so happened to come from the top half of market sizes. 68.8% came from the top 10 markets. Probably just a coincidence!
Replying to @castrovince
So you need to spend money to win, which would make sense. And also means there are a lot of owners that don't care about winning because they won't spend money

Major League Baseball wants a salary cap and says it's to ensure smaller-market, lower-payroll teams can win in the postseason. Milwaukee, Cleveland and Tampa Bay are winning without one. Free at ESPN, how to reconcile the 2026 postseason and cap talk: espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/5016…

Alec Zumwalt out as Royals hitting coach, reassigned within the organization, sources tell @TheAthletic. He will remain senior director of hitting performance, the job he had before joining the big-league staff in May 2022.

I have been coaching little leaguers for over a year now and I am teaching George Brett’s hitting method — lead arm extension/top hand release. Brett became a Hall of Famer because Charley Lau taught him this. George wrote the forward for my first book: Lau’s Laws on Hitting.

Congrats and thank you to Michael, a three-time Good Guy champ! I say it every year but the #Royals clubhouse is full of pros when it comes to helping us do our jobs, which isn’t an easy task on either side some nights.
Congratulations to Michael Massey, who last night received the 2026 Mike Swanson Good Guy Award! The award is voted on by the KC BBWAA and presented to the player who best exemplifies a cooperative spirit with the beat writers who cover the team.

The MLB isn't a serious league until they fix their TV revenue sharing. In sports, the idea isn't to give unfair advantage, otherwise it isn't sport. @theoddsbreakers #Dodgers #Brewers

Think of what it took for the small-market Royals to win it all. They hit on all bargain-basement deals — Morales, Rios, Young, Volquez, Medlen, Hochevar, Madson, Franklin Morales and they hit on Zobrist/Cueto deadline trades. Still took a crazy Game 4 rally in Houston to advance

Yes, a floor is mandatory just like in other sports. I have always advocated that. Cheap owners are not the problem. Massive local TV revenue is. The Dodgers get over $300 million more than the Royals with local TV revenue. That does not mean Mr. K, Glass and Sherman were “cheap”
Without a floor, a salary cap is useless. Its not the Dodgers. Its the cheap owners who won't spend. They are the problem with baseball. The Dodgers are playing by the rules. The cheap owners aren't. We gotta fix the cheap owners first. Floor is mandatory.
