David Hasselhoff sweated in the desert for 90 episodes of Knight Rider. The man who voiced KITT finished each episode in 50 minutes and never once stood next to him. In the video below, the voice of KITT explains how it really worked. KITT was voiced by William Daniels, a Broadway and TV actor who later played Mr. Feeny on Boy Meets World. He read a few pages for a pitch and realized he was playing a car. On set, Hasselhoff acted next to a woman reading KITT’s lines. Daniels came into a studio at Universal, recorded the episode, and went home. When they finally met at a Christmas party, Hasselhoff asked how long it took him. Daniels told him about 50 minutes. KITT became the most famous car on TV. Hasselhoff’s own KITT later sold at auction for $152,600. Daniels’ name never appeared in the opening or closing credits. In 2020, Hasselhoff finally visited him at home. Daniels was 93. Hasselhoff said it was like talking to the car, except he was a person. William Daniels is 99 now.
