"Martyr complex like my own B..." Dick chuckled. "Man, I hate that I see so much of myself in you, in Batman in general. That drive to protect others, at any cost even my own life, as long as I know the people I love are safe..." For better or for worse, he was Bruce's son.

He sighed. "I've stopped lying and using my friends for the sake of the mission." It still wouldn't stop Dick himself from throwing his own life for the sake of the mission, so the lesson was mostly learned. "Maybe Wally's right, I should try living for once."

"No, that doesn't mean I didn't get him killed..." He meant Wally. "Sure, he came back from that Speed Force plane years later and he keeps saying it was his choice, but I can't help thinking if I'd only done something, maybe he wouldn't have-" His logic sounded very familiar.

"This is where you're wrong. What I've done, me taking control of things, was while he was gone on a months-long mission. It was my choice to step up and lead. That didn't stop me from making the same Batman mistakes."

"I'd argue he taught me too well, to the point where I started pushing my friends away, lying to them, manipulating them, using them for the sake of the mission, even if it meant endangering all of us. I even blew up my old HQ. Thankfully Wally knocked some sense into me."

He definitely sounded younger from the looks of it. Wouldn't stop Dick from making a jab. "Oh like you never met that one person you felt could trust with your deepest secrets. What am I talking about? The Batman is always alone, always must carry the weight of the world."

"I told him who I was against B's wishes when we were still kids. He was the only one on the Team, up until I became Nightwing, who knew my secret identity. He knows about the Cave, about your mission, and hell that got you closer to Barry Allen back in the day."

"I've got so many exes, I can't even count them anymore. Only difference being that unlike the others, Wally... knows me. Like, he knows me better than anyone else. It's perhaps why all of my hetero relationships failed, I couldn't let them too close to the real me."
