Fifth and final pass through Hurricane Melissa for our crew today. Just after noon entering from the NW corner exiting SE.
Sunrise this morning over the gulf with a heron.
On a more personal note I’m starting to question shooting in RAW + JPEG. In the last 30 days I shot 8,655 pictures with my Canon R5 which ends up being 17,310 files that take up 509.67GB. I could probably chuck 95% of the JPEGs and 99% of the RAW. There are probably 6,000 from my attempting to shoot butterflies and hummingbirds in my yard that are trash and could be deleted…. but it would be a lot of work to sort through so I just throw hard drive space at it.
What does give me hope that it’s not a compete digital hoarding mess is that AI could probably sort out the keepers in short order. Figure if I give it the known good shots that I have downloaded to my phone it could curate a collection of good and maybe some potentially good shots. Or maybe this is just self justification.
I used to only shoot JPEG but I kinda wish I had RAW of a few of the best pics I have ever taken. Never know when that may come so now I burn through storage space at ~4x the rate.
How do other photographers deal with this? Ruthless sorting and deleting as you go?
I’m curious about this… I imagine some people follow me to just see the weather stuff in hurricane season and then get tired of being bombarded with a bunch of other pics.
Hey @grok
What are 5 reasons for people to unfollow me?
This could be interesting…

Hey weather people… why has nobody ever mention this movie Storm Seekers before? I just saw the trailer for the first time and it looks like a straight up documentary about the hurricane hunters apart from maybe a few minor details.

Sunrise on fire this morning. This is normal speed. It looked so cool when I was taking some still pics I switched to movie mode.
