Today is historic day for Karnataka 🔥
Coastal Karnataka’s long-pending demand is fulfilled. From 1 October 2026, Mangaluru Central, Junction, Panambur and the stretch up to Ullal move from Palakkad Division to Mysuru Division of South Western Railway.
People had sought this since 2003 so Mangaluru is run from Karnataka, not from a division 350 km away ,one zone, fewer interchanges, smoother trains and port freight.
BJP MP Capt. Brijesh Chowta took it up in 2024 with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw; the Railway Board ordered the transfer on 21 August. Mangaluru is finally under Karnataka’s railway network.
