Perhaps the most stark and revealing (accidental?) admission in the David Bell 'antisemitism in UK schools report. Antisemitic attitudes aren't increasing, only anti-Israel ones are. That's what most of this is about. From the horse's mouth: assets.publishing.service.go…

This is how the media works. The Hollywood Reporter has been chasing us for comment, so they know exactly what our Ali G campaign is about. Instead of putting that to Sacha Baron Cohen, they handed him a different premise: that calls for cinemas not to screen the film are really about his support for Israel. It’s the same link the Daily Mail and The Telegraph have tried to draw. It wasn’t true there, and it isn’t true now. But it did its job. Cohen never had to answer whether Ali G is racist. He got to talk about Jews being targeted instead. See how they're all working in conjunction? Legacy media sets up the talking point, then hands it over for the subject to run with. So back to the question nobody in this exchange wants to touch. Ali G trades on a caricature of Black British and Jamaican culture. That’s our complaint. It always has been, and thousands of people backed it.

Nigel Farage would not answer my questions around the racism and sexism in his party when he walked through an Essex town centre today. Instead his ‘bodyguard’ whom I told not to touch me, told me, ‘I can do whatever I want’.

I'm going to say this again in clear, simple terms so there can be no equivocation: Prior to Brexit, immigrants very rarely came to the UK in small boats because it is an extremely dangerous mode of transport. They came in lorries. Organised smuggling gangs knew that because there was free movement of goods between EU countries that there was a high chance that a lorry concealing immigrants would not be searched. I am sure you all remember that terrible case of a lorry-load of migrants from China and Vietnam that was abandoned in Essex. 31 men and 8 women died. The onset of Brexit meant that gradually, from approx 2018 onwards, more and more stringent checks began being carried out on lorries, as well as increased security at ferry ports - even Newhaven-Dieppe are surrounded with high barbed wire security fences, and every vehicle leaving Dieppe is opened and checked, so I imagine it must be pretty much the same at Calais and Boulogne as well. We have no idea how many people a year arrived in the UK unlawfully by lorry. The reason for this is because they were literally untrackable. Occasionally you would see a lorry stopped by the M2 or the M25 with a handful of people standing behind the safety barrier while the police had the blue lights on. But they certainly could not track what they didn't know about. The likelihood is that there were a great many more people getting into the country. The overwhelming majority of them would disappear into the undergrowth, never to be seen again until either a) they committed an offence b) they were caught in raids working illegally c) they either walked into a police station to claim asylum almost immediately or d) they popped over the parapet several years later because they wanted to regularise their status, either by marrying, or because they had children, or under the Long Residence rules - it used to be 15 years but is now 20 years. If you can prove you have been in the UK continuously for 20 years and have otherwise kept your nose clean, you are entitled to limited leave to remain. Eventually you might get settlement after 30 years - again, if you can prove you have always been in the country in that time. You will not get nationality if you entered the country illegally these days, though, unless you can show that there is something exceptional about your contribution to society. The small boats are different. The small boats are highly visible. The small boats - and their passengers - are very easy to spot, and very easy for the Coastguard and Border Force to track. A man from the BBC used to spend all his time stood on a cliff counting them post-Brexit. Yes, there will be the occasional one that slips through undetected. But that is the opposite of the way it was with lorry smuggling, where it was the occasional one that was actually detected, and the majority slipping through un-noticed. The irony of Farage, Lowe, Robinson, Tommo and all the other far-right screechers claiming we are unsafe because of "fighting age men" arriving on these boats is hilarious if it wasn't so desperate. When the boats arrive, every person is fingerprinted, screened and vetted as best we can, although another irony of Brexit is we no longer have automatic access to Europol except if we have grounds to suspect someone is a criminal rather than just an asylum seeker, so well done Brexit for that as well. Also, as we are no longer party to what's called the Dublin Agreement, whereas before we could make an application to France to take them back, and take responsibility for the asylum claim, now we are out of the EU we can't do that either. But at least we know who is here, we have their fingerprints, and we know who they are. In short, we are arguably safer from the "fighting age men" now that at any time in the past 30-odd years. The numbers are reducing. The numbers of crossings are reducing. I hold no candle for Labour these days, but at least they are processing the backlog the Tories (deliberately?) built up and those who don't have the right here are being deported as well. Boris Johnson is as full of shit as he always was. Feel free to share this.

This is good but we need the same for southwest to south east. It takes forever to get from those two places
TfL is consulting on an 18.5km London Overground route linking Hendon and Hounslow. The service would connect communities and transport hubs, with up to six trains an hour. Consultation closes on 18 November 2026, with residents and businesses invited to comment. Links below: ⤵️

And yet the peasants in south London without an armoured tank have to suffer buses that don't go where you want @SadiqKhan
From Hounslow to Hendon, without the detour. The proposed West London Orbital would create a new passenger rail link, unlock 25,000+ homes, support thousands of jobs, improve air quality and help cut congestion. Have your say in our public consultation now: haveyoursay.tfl.gov.uk/west-…

Was so bored tonight so to celebrate the almost 33rd anniversary of the iconic BBC kids' show #ComeOutside and the life of the late Lynda Baron, here's all the times Auntie Mabel said her most iconic catchphrase, "Hello me dears!" Enjoy!

As we all discuss the pros and cons of balaclavas and head coverings, it seems a good time to rekindle this little gem. (Credit to Batt Maillie on IG.) Is it just a ‘Silly Little Hat’ or so much more?

Just in: The UK Cinema Association has written to its members (Cineworld, ODEON and others) about letters from the public asking them not to screen the new Ali G film. The letters came from NewsCord campaign participants. We have seen the email. Here are the key takeaways and next steps: 1. It counts 45,000 petition signatures and calls them 'comparatively little support'. It describes the people who wrote, many from the communities the Ali G character dresses up as, as 'an ill-defined grouping of ginger groups'. 2. It warns members of 'the implicit threat within the email of direct action at those cinemas showing the film, including an implicit threat to cinema staff'. It offers no evidence. Our letters are published in full on our action page. Each one addresses a company's programming decision, never an individual, asks for a reply, and threatens nobody. Telling cinema staff their own audience is a threat is not safety advice. It is a way of not answering the letters. 3. It advises cinemas to decide 'depending on their judgement of audience demand (and not in response to outside pressures)' once the film has a BBFC classification. In other words: let the BBFC decide for you. With that said, we have officially added the BBFC to the campaign. No UK cinema can book Ali G: Who Iz I? until the British Board of Film Classification classifies it, and the councils that license cinemas rely on the Board's decisions. The Board's own guidelines treat discrimination as a classification issue. It can require cuts. It can refuse a certificate, as it did with the film Hate Crime, citing abuse 'aggravated by racist invective'. The film opens on 23 October. The decision is being made now. Send the BBFC letter here. Already taken part? Use the same email address. We will send only the new letter, and no chain you already wrote to will hear from you twice. newscord.org/action/cinemas-…

In 1996 The Simpsons released an episode the accidently summarized Sacha's reason for making an Ali G. movie in 2026 and the social backlash against it.
Can we all agree that this is just millennial blackface?

Sacha Baron Cohen's "films" have a pattern. Culturally appropriated, harmful, wholly inaccurate stereotypes of Jamaicans, Muslims and Kazakhs, dressed up as comedy. Cinemas now have a real opportunity to end that pattern. Ali G: Who Iz I? is set to screen in 2026, in a society that claims to have moved on. Let cinema chains know what you think of this: newscord.org/action/cinemas-…

1/ Yesterday Cofnas was supposedly an independent academic exposing corruption. Today the U.S. government is publicly threatening to review its relationship with Ghent on his behalf.
The United States Mission to Belgium condemns, in the strongest terms, Ghent University’s retaliation against an American scholar following his accurate whistleblower reporting on academic fraud. The United States government regularly funds and supports research, academic exchanges, and other engagements with overseas universities. Dishonest, corrupt institutions that engage in, or reward, scapegoating mob behavior are not desirable partners for us. This is particularly true where the purpose and effect of the scapegoating is to punish accurate journalism unearthing academic dishonesty. We are therefore reviewing any relationships we have with Ghent University. Bad-faith idealogues will try to make this a referendum on the content of Cofnas’s scholarship – or polemical distortions of it. That’s wrong. Free speech means that controversial views are protected. And Cofnas’s views were known to Ghent University when he was hired. The ultimate purpose of freedom of speech is to overturn lies, fraud, and false ideologies. This is precisely what Cofnas was doing, and precisely the reason his home institution wants to silence him. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
