🚨 Launching the Forensic Archive Dossier A curated publication bringing together evidence, analysis, and expert perspectives on the large-scale destruction of Iranian cultural heritage. Issue 1 Submission Guidelines We welcome contributions to the first issue of the Forensic Archive Dossier, an interdisciplinary publication that documents and analyzes the large-scale destruction of Iranian cultural and natural heritage since 28 February 2026. In recent weeks, more than 100 sites have reportedly been damaged or destroyed. At the same time, documentation from within Iran remains severely restricted, controlled, and politically instrumentalized. For decades, Iran’s cultural heritage has been systematically eroded or erased under the Islamic Republic. Since 28 February, additional external actors, the United States and Israel, have also inflicted damage through military action. The result is a layered destruction that may be understood as a form of cultural genocide: a multi-actor destruction of heritage through internal colonization, external military action, and political instrumentalization. The Dossier responds directly to this condition, addressing an urgent gap: the absence of sustained, rigorous, and independent documentation and analysis. We invite contributions on: -investigative articles and analytical essays on heritage destruction since 28 February -case studies of damaged or threatened sites (ancient, modern, or natural) -legal and policy analysis in relation to cultural heritage in this conflict -GIS, mapping, and spatial analysis of destruction and risk -documentation of underreported or marginalized heritage, including ethnic and regional disparities -critical and reflective writing on diaspora, memory, and heritage under conflict If you would like to suggest a topic not listed above, please feel free to contact us. We also welcome visual contributions: maps, diagrams, and data visualizations photography and photo essays graphic design and visual documentation caricatures and artistic responses Suggested length Short pieces: 800 – 1500 words Longer articles: 1500 – 3000 words Visual work: include a short description (100 – 300 words) How to submit Please send your submission to: [email protected] Subject line: Submission — Forensic Archive Dossier Include: -your name and affiliation (if applicable) -a short bio (2–3 lines) -your contribution (Word/PDF for text, JPG/PNG for images) Submission deadline: 10 April 2026 Selected contributors will be notified shortly after the submission deadline. Due to limited capacity, not all submissions can be included. Editorial note All submissions will be reviewed and edited where necessary. 🔗 forensicarchiveofiran.com/do… If you'd like to join the archive as a volunteer collaborator or consultant, you can sign up here: forensicarchiveofiran.com/jo…

Medical Ethics Under Siege in Iran By Professor @KiaAramesh, MD, PhD. One of the most fundamental principles of medical ethics is the protection of human life and dignity, especially in times of vulnerability, illness, and injury. Hospitals, healthcare professionals, and medical services are meant to remain neutral, safe, and protected spaces, even in situations of political conflict or social unrest. Yet today, in Iran, these basic and universally accepted principles are being systematically violated by the state. Reports from inside the country document a horrifying pattern: hospitals being attacked; injured protesters being arrested from their hospital beds; patients being killed while receiving care; healthcare professionals and medical students being threatened, detained, imprisoned, or even killed; ambulances being used to transport security forces rather than patients; and, in some cases, hospitals and ambulances being used as sites from which protesters are targeted and shot. These actions represent not only grave human rights violations but a direct assault on the very foundations of medical ethics. Tragically, the medical ethics community inside Iran is largely voiceless and paralyzed. This is mostly due to structural repression: pervasive state control, dependence on government institutions, lack of an independent civil society, infiltration of academic and professional bodies by security agents, mass surveillance, and internet shutdowns that isolate professionals from the global community. In such conditions, silence is not consent; it is imposed. This places a moral responsibility on the international bioethics and medical ethics community. When medical neutrality is violated so blatantly, when hospitals become extensions of state violence, and when healthcare professionals are persecuted for doing their jobs, global ethical institutions cannot remain neutral or passive. Bioethics is not merely an academic discipline. It is a moral practice grounded in the defense of life, dignity, and justice. Remaining silent in the face of such systematic brutality risks turning bioethics itself into an empty rhetoric, detached from the realities it claims to address. If medical ethics means anything at all, it must mean speaking out when medicine is weaponized against the very people it is meant to protect. This is a call to action. International bioethics organizations, academic centers, professional associations, journals, and leading figures in the field must break the silence. They must issue public statements, document these violations, support endangered healthcare professionals, and hold the Iranian regime accountable through ethical, legal, and institutional channels. Silence, in this context, is not neutrality; It is complicity. The credibility of global bioethics now depends on whether it is willing to defend its own principles when they are most violently violated.
