Former Cuban political prisoner José Daniel Ferrer asks exactly the right question:
How can the regime’s officials justify being so fat while their political prisoners waste away in confinement?
As a survivor of like 15 news cycles of "the new generation of Cubans is moving left!" I always have a good chuckle when this poll comes out

Proud and mildly jealous of my friend, the freedom fighter @OGutierrezCuba, for getting called out at the highest levels of international affairs by the Castro family's top henchman for all the work he has done to weaken the regime. An example for us all!

Teach your daughters to identify and hold in disgust scammy pick-up artists. Your country is at stake.
Fidel Castro wooed and married the most beautiful, richest girl at Uni Havana: Mirta Diaz-Balart (aunt of the Florida congressmen).
The family thought she’d married beneath her station because Castro’s father was well-off, but a country bumpkin married to his maid.
While the Diaz-Balarts were much more wealthy and very cosmopolitan with apts & siblings in Paris, visiting London (Waldo Diaz-Balart, whose paintings are at Moma, hung out with Picasso crowd, etc).
The Diaz-Balarts treated Castro as another average member of the family at Sunday luncheons, when he was used to being the pampered child, orating to his cleaning lady mom & country dad over meals.
He hated not being the center of attention, nor as rich nor as cosmopolitan as the Diaz-Balarts.
And as with all communists, envy propelled him towards revolution.
He kicked out the whole Diaz Balart family, kept their homes, their art, their jewels and their grandson, Mirta’s only child.
All out of envy, greed, hatred of his own inferiority, his lack of cosmopolitanism (had never even traveled, spoke no foreign languages, hick parents).
Enviousness & a sense of entitlement caused Castro to murder, plunder, rob and leave his son without a mother.
Shouldn't have left bbno$ off the Eurovision candidate list

Como que medio guanajito salió el Flávio no?
Flávio Bolsonaro abandoned his effort to annul Brazil’s election amid fears that he could be imprisoned, according to a Bolsonaro family adviser.
“Flávio has given up,” the adviser told The Washington Post.
“He’s terrified. He is worried his father will die in jail, that he himself will be jailed this week and that he may have a long prison term ahead.”

Raising kids is not something that parents can do on their own. Parents need support and always have, but the proper source of support for most parents is not the government. It’s the community: Extended family, friends, neighborhood, church, and school. washingtonexaminer.com/in_fo…
I'm torn as someone who thinks people watch too much news but thinks comparative politics is the most useful political science. Checking out other people's experiments to see what could work for you is healthy; adopting a random country's political party like a sports team is not
Parenting hot take: I think a lot of kid bad behavior is a sleep issue. You can't discipline away sleep deprivation grumpiness, you can only let them sleep it off. I can't imagine how much a "normal" 5-day school schedule hurts discipline in that respect.
Has anyone considered that maybe Lula didn't cheat by having his defense attorney (who he put on the Supreme Court) extend voting in only pro-Lula areas, but that Mark Ruffalo's endorsement is just that powerful?
