Research engineer Sofia Liguori resigned from Google's DeepMind this month over the company's AI technology being increasingly integrated into military and surveillance systems, particularly as part of Israel's war in Gaza.
While there has been a wave of high-profile resignations from tech companies over fears that AI might someday turn against humanity, Liguori says the "superintelligent god killing us all" narrative serves to distract from more immediate harms posed by the technology.
Israel allows 2 million Palestinians with Israeli citizenship (who did not become refugees in 1948) to vote and run for office while it denies that right to 6+ million it has kept under a brutal illegal occupation for nearly 60 years.
That is not democracy. It is Apartheid.
Israel’s Arab citizens, men and women, are turning out in historic numbers to vote. They can vote, run for office, and serve in the Knesset, rights denied to many Arabs and women across much of the Middle East.
Our critical ally in the fight against terror, Israel, is the only democracy in the region, and today shows it.

A small minority of States has lately mounted aggressive personal attacks on multiple UN experts presenting reports in New York. I urge States to engage on the substance of reports and refrain from unprofessional smears, bullying and harassment, which only discredits governments
Lobbies (organised groups seeking to influence public decisions) are not inherently corrupt: they bring diverse perspectives into policymaking.
But when money buys access and private interests dictate public policy, behind closed doors, they may be a legalised form of corruption.
As I presented my latest report at the UN two days ago, the US ambassador managed to be even more insulting than Israel’s. No small feat, given that Israeli representatives at UN in New York have long been second to none in diplomatic buffoonery.
At the UN on Monday, Israel's ambassador called @FranceskAlbs a fraud and a liar. The US representative called her a lunatic.
Her report documents nearly 300 journalists killed in Gaza. Of course, neither of them addressed it.

Palestinians in Gaza and elsewhere need an end to genocide, Israel's militarised colonisation and apartheid.
They need respect for Intl Law and justice.
They also need no more advice from those who have profited from their misery for too long.

Eisenkot was part of it & served in the military. He sat in the emergency unity security cabinet after Oct. 7 - during the genocide.
