Sometimes the words I type out are stupid, and I need to be reminded of it. This seems to be the night for it.
Question for vocal editors.
How often are you time stretching vocals to make sure the double tracks and harmonies are phase-aligned? I'm still unfamiliar with what the modern workflow looks like now, so I was curious. I'm doing an extremely small amount to make sure things aren't sounding too off.

Disclaimer!
My method values clarity and consistency above all. Some noise may remain due to the severity of it. Audio is full of compromises, so please understand that the process is not magic.

You don't need to spend a fortune to get started in audio engineering. This is what I often recommend for those just starting out.
Studio headphones will generally serve you better than standard consumer headphones. Consumer models often color the sound to make it more exciting, while studio headphones are designed to provide a more accurate representation of what's there.
Your editing and mixing decisions are influenced by what you're using, and environment. Headphones with excessive bass can lead you to cut too much from your mix. A flatter, more accurate pair helps you make better informed decisions.
Happy Oshi Day to the greatest little panda on this earth, Komachi Panko. There is none greater than she who leads all her ringos into happiness and victory.
We adore your little head and appreciate the time you put into making an effort for us. She'll forever be my Kami Oshi.
Impo has been my artist for years now. She's very reliable, and has a unique art style. Please consider sending a commission her way.
LA3A has awesome tone to it, but really over emphasizes sibilance. LA2A give some nice control without the sibilance issue, but it's missing a little bite. Is there anything that sits in the middle?
Doing small commissions for pixel art icons on Vgen! These are speedy comms, so you send me a ref and I push it out in my style (hence the low price).
I'm taking 4 slots, right now.

I've been playing around with Relic's free plugin bundle, and I'm quite impressed. They sound amazing for being free, but the controls can be a little buggy. I'd recommend giving them a try if you've not heard of them.

So... I'm using Reaper and kind of like it. I'm not a fan of how the menus work, but I like the overall workflow so far.
I've edited hundreds of character x listener audios as a job, and I was thinking of doing it again. I'm not sure if there is any demand for it still.
What the hell happened to the term Gain Staging? I see a new description or use case for it like every week now.
0 attempt was made to make sure this double-tracked vocal was recorded to sound tight. I guess being a dialogue editor can carry over into music as well.
I'm not quite getting the whole distressor (plugin) on vocals thing. It sounds awesome on drums and acoustic, but I feel like there's usually a better option for vocals. It's been great for adding attack and punch, but I can't get it to be as smooth as I'd like on vocals. It's probably a skill issue on my part.
