We witnessed another stunning turnaround this week with this big red-tailed hawk, a young female who was brought to us by @NYCACC on Halloween.
She had obviously suffered a collision, with a window or a vehicle. She was favoring one leg and struggling to hold her wings even. Fortunately, x-rays revealed no fractures, and after several days of care, Halloween is already perching well and very, very alert. She’s fierce and will be a powerhouse once she returns to the wild.

Trust the follow-up to this tragedy includes FDNY inspections of, at minimum, all adjacent wood-construction buildings.

AGAIN! and AGAIN! and AGAIN!
Many voters in NYC still believe that building more apts./aka “ABUNDANCE” equals lower rents/greater affordability. It does NOT! Not, when the overwhelming units being built are market rent aka “UNAFFORDABLE”, even to the lower rungs of the Middle Class.

It continues to shock me that voters blindly vote “yes” on ballot measures. The government is asking you if you’d like to cede your power to them, and people still happily vote for it. As I say every election season NY has the dumbest voters in the country

This great black-backed gull was going a little stir crazy, and who could blame him? He’d been with us nearly a month recovering from a collection of ailments related to a likely collision.
Tor was reluctant to fly, possibly as a result of a minor coracoid fracture (shoulder) and had developed a wound on one foot, likely from being grounded so long. It took several weeks of wound care, medication and pool therapy for this guy to fully recover. By the end, he’d had enough of our hospitality.
We’re happy to report that Tor was released this week! Good luck out there.🐟
