#OnThisDay 26 October in 1962 during the India - China War 1962
#LestWeForgetIndia 🇮🇳 The #IndianBrave carried out a fierce bayonet attack, eliminating 7 Chinese soldiers in defence of Walong
On the night of 26 October 1962, a company of Sikh Regiment was holding a defensive position in the forward-defended localities of the Walong garrison in NEFA.
This position was threatened by enemy forces. Some of them had managed to get dangerously close to our defences.
Sepoy Kewal Singh, on his own initiative, rushed out of his section post and charged the enemy with his bayonet, killing a few in hand-to-hand fighting. In this encounter, he was seriously wounded
Despite his grievous injuries, he bayoneted yet another of the enemy before he succumbed to his injuries.
Through this act of valour and self-sacrifice, Sepoy Kewal Singh helped his comrades to repulse the enemy
The #IndianBrave was awarded the Maha Vir Chakra posthumously🏵️

Another fatal luxury car crash that killed a scooterist in Kerala by a 17 year old, son of District Judge ⚠️
Victim's Niece was told,
"Don't teach me law, you have no rights to question me" - Minor's father(additional district judge)
"Don't overreact and get emotionally driven, he is just a 17 year old kid" - Kerala Police
The accident occurred at around 2:20 AM to 3:00 AM at Cheranalloor in Kochi. A speeding luxury Mercedes-Benz car, registered under the name of the additional judge, rammed into a scooter from behind. The scooter rider, 55-year-old Jayabalakrishnan of Manjali, was killed. He was a local street vendor returning home after closing his wayside eatery (thattukada) near a temple in Chittoor.
The 17-year-old minor, who does not possess a driving license, reportedly took the car out for a night drive. He was speeding at 100km/hr while the crash occured as per reports. The victim's niece JAYALAKSHMI claims that the accused was not shown to them at the police station and Kerala police insisted them to not get emotionally driven by this incident as if this isn't a big loss at all. The father of the 17 year old accused who is a district court judge spoke rudely at the police station asking them not to teach him law as per Jayalakshmi's claim.
The central issue is the loss of a human life. Jayabalakrishnan's family has suffered an irreversible loss, and the circumstances surrounding his death must be investigated thoroughly. The victim and his family deserve justice, while the investigation and any subsequent legal proceedings must establish responsibility on the basis of evidence rather than influence, status or public speculation.

Beautiful!
A guided visit to these Pandals accompanied by their lecturers would be so enrichening for students of art and design. Or even perhaps for all students.
I would love to visit this even at this age.
Steadfast

Actually.
Well said!
True military leaders live by something similar but perhaps more profound.
Speak your mind, always. But mind how you speak.
Disagree and debate till the point of decision.
And then whole heartedly be a part of the decision.
Throughout my sporting career, I questioned my coaches, challenged ideas and remained curious. Not because I lacked respect but because I wanted to understand, learn and get better. I worry that when athletes feel they cannot speak freely, something far more troubling happens over time. They slowly stop questioning even in their own minds. And when that happens we loose something essential to sporting excellence. We need athletes who question their own work, their coaches, the methods recommended to them and the structures they operate within. Not out of defiance but out of a genuine desire to improve. What some might consider indiscipline may, in fact, be essential to growth. There is a difference between an athlete who refuses to learn and one who refuses to stop asking questions. Sport must be wise enough to recognise that difference.
I pray she is able to bring development and prosperity to her village.
Best wishes, Salima Tete!

FAFO!
Barely any work in the Bombay film industry. Just relying on celeb status and past laurels. Why should an American citizen fight for causes that concern Indians? Indians on US visas are sent asked to self deport, or sent back unceremoniously at times when they get into activism space, so reciprocation is fine

And even some of my former Comrades from the Forces whose ❣️ bleed for the mobs addressing them as 'helpless, unarmed, peaceful while terming the Delhi Police Personnel , despite the remarkable restraint displayed in the face of extreme provocation as Rogues & Hooligans!
Shame!
Female “Protester” is provoking an ACP rank official, touching him inappropriately. If he reacts even once, @BBC will get its leading story.
Salute to Delhi Police for handling such cases. They are goons not protesters.
Major Ngangom Joydutta Singh must have been in his early thirties with a young wife and two young children.
Regardless.
"I am out of ammunition and am charging through. Goodbye and out."
Read this.
And then take a moment to think.
Blessed is this land with such heroes.
Respect!

Maj Singh made the supreme sacrifice #OnThisDay 13 October in 1987 Jaffna #OPPawan in the ops to extricate the men of 10 PARA & 13 SIKH LI
Major N J Dutta Singh was deployed in Sri Lanka as part of the Indian Peace Keeping Force. As a company Commander, he led the battalion's advance east of the road Vasavilan-Uramparai. He vigorously pressed and cleared pockets of resistance, facing heavy and accurate militant fire all through the night of 12 October 1987.
On 13 October 1987, he covered the operation to extricate the Para Commandos and 13 Sikh LI. He, with one platoon, moved to a vantage point. This platoon provided the most crucial fire support, but soon came under an overwhelming attack by the militants.
His position was being continuously attacked and he radioed the Officiating Commanding officer asking for urgent reinforcements and ammunition. Even while this was being organised, he radioed, “I am out of ammunition and am charging through. Goodbye and out”
He brought out his khukri and, with two more men, charged and killed the LTTE militants. Unfortunately, he was grievously injured and succumbed to his injuries.
#LestWeForgetIndia🇮🇳 The gallant #IndianBrave & his men fought fiercely and lived up to the Battalion moto, काफर हुनु भन्दा मर्नु निको - Kafar Hunu Bhanda Marnu Niko (It is better to die than be a coward)
Maj N J Dutta Singh was awarded the #VirChakra posthumously

Has anyone made a thread with videos and pix on the current trend of #StopTheBus? Please share. It would be entertaining.
Bus Stop meant something entirely different from Stop The Bus.

In the VIIth Standard, during one of the first lessons on Civics as a subject, the teacher made a profound satement.
"An opposition is the corollary to the theorem of democracy."
An opposition cannot convincingly demand transparency and accountability from the state if it lacks both within its own house.
