If you're curious who Shel Silverstein is, Monika actually posted one of his poems in her account once!
In fact, it's one of the earliest tweets she has made!

This was a truly unforgettable experience. It was amazing to hear Dan talk about how he writes characters and tells stories. I also got the special opportunity to meet him, as well as many wonderful people with Team Salvato and Serenity Forge. I’ll talk more about my experience in the coming days. 💚

Dan himself later confirmed in his playthrough that this was because he didn't properly describe the kind of knife that should be used in this scene

Extra Fun Fact: Monika does not care about gender when it comes to love.

The idea of Sayori being the "crazy one", having the epiphany, was something Dan Salvato considered but ended up scratching in favor of Monika having it.
However, that concept still (kind of) managed to live on in Act 4, where Sayori gets the epiphany as well!

MC originally had a line in narration implying that he doesn't frequent the Third-year classes
Third years in Japan are around 17-18, so for MC to not be one would imply that they're all underage!
The line got eventually changed in DDLC+ to remove that part
