🗳️ Midterms are tomorrow, and everyone has an opinion on how the country should be run. So here’s a chance to try out your ideas in games. These three titles put you in charge of a city, an island, and a freezing wasteland:
🏙️ Cities: Skylines 2: you build a city from scratch and keep it running. Remember: One badly planned intersection can jam the whole map.
🌴 Tropico 6: you rule a Caribbean island as El Presidente. Build the economy, deal with the superpowers and stay in power, whether the people like it or not.
❄️ Frostpunk 2: the world is frozen and every law divides the council. The choices you’re given are often very tough but you have to decide for yours settlement wellbeing. You cannot save everyone.
And these three are just the start. Management games cover almost everything: you can run a city, a theme park, a hospital, a farm or a whole colony. Some are relaxed and let you build at your own pace, others throw crisis after crisis at you and test every decision. Whatever kind of leader you are, there’s a game for you!
So, which one would you try? Tell us below 👇
📚 It’s National Author’s Day, so let’s give credit where it’s due: somebody had to write the book first. These three games took those worlds off the pages, in some cases redesigned it a little bit, and gave us the control:
🐺 The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt: Andrzej Sapkowski’s monster hunter Geralt wanders off to ding his stepdaughter, Ciri. But you mostly play Gwent and fool around.
🚇 Metro 2033 Redux: Dmitry Glukhovsky’s novel turned into a trek through the dark tunnels of the Moscow metro. Watch your gas mask filters, your ammo and, honestly, everything else. Created with direct collaboration with the original author.
🪄 Hogwarts Legacy: your own student, your own spells, and a whole castle to sneak around after curfew. It’s not based on any story from the pages but It’s one of the best adaptations of Harry Potter’s world.
Books gave us worlds, games let us walk around in them. What’s your favorite game based on a book? Tell us below 👇

We are devastated by the news that Sir Patrick Stewart has passed away at the age of 86.
While most know him as a legendary stage and screen actor, he was also no stranger to video games. Over the years, he lent his talents to interactive worlds, reprising his iconic roles as Professor Xavier and Captain Jean-Luc Picard in numerous titles.
Gamers will also fondly remember him as Emperor Uriel Septim VII in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and as Zobek in the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow series.
We will miss you, our captain, professor, and hero.

John Romero turns 59 today 🎂
In 1991 he co-founded id Software, and over the next few years he worked on Commander Keen, Wolfenstein 3D, Doom and Quake. His level design and tools, together with John Carmack’s tech, helped popularize the FPS genre. 🔫
He and id parted ways in 1996, but he never stopped making games. For Doom’s 25th anniversary he built Sigil, an unofficial fifth episode for the original Doom, and released it as a free download in 2019. Then came Sigil II for the 30th anniversary. 👹
Happy birthday, John, and thanks for all the hours we lost to your games. Which one was your first? 👇
It’s this time of the year. Rainy, muddy, cold and dark. Fall is here, so we’ve officially prepared blankets and a cup of tea. 🥶🍂
Even the manliest, scariest, strongest big gamers want some cozyiness from time to time, so here u go! Our propositions for good little games to play on those gloomy afternoons.
🚣 Spiritfarer: you run a boat for spirits on their way out of this world. Cook for them, hug them, say goodbye. Keep in mind, this one is very emotional.
🌾 Stardew Valley: you quit a soul-crushing office job to take over your grandpa’s overgrown farm. Grow crops, raise chickens, befriend the whole town and poke around the mines.
📦 Unpacked: unpacking boxes in a new place. That’s it. Little, cozy puzzle game.

A new version of the Odyssey just dropped. To be more precise, it’s the first 7 minutes of an AI-generated movie.
If it’s not the kind of Odyssey you’re into, we want to remind you that the world of video games offers many Odysseys.
🏺 Assassin’s Creed Odyssey: An action RPG that takes you to Ancient Greece.
🏭 Abe’s Oddysee and Munch’s Oddysee: Two installments in the beloved Oddworld platformer series.
☠️ One Piece Odyssey: An RPG that lets players follow Monkey D. Luffy, who’s going to be the King of the Pirates.
🥸 Super Mario Odyssey: Another exciting chapter in Mario’s everlasting rivalry with Bowser.
🔫 Elite Dangerous: Odyssey: A DLC that introduces first-person on-foot exploration.
🚀 RimWorld - Odyssey: An expansion that allows space travel.
And those are only a few! None of them claim to be historically accurate, but all will let you have a great time. Or at least a better time than Odysseus on his long trip home from work.

October 26 marks the anniversary of two true gaming milestones. ❤️🎮
⚔️ In 2007, CD Projekt RED launched The Witcher, the game that introduced Geralt and the magnificent world created by Andrzej Sapkowski to gamers all around the world. It was a humble game compared to its successors. However, its success in Europe paved the way for The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and, particularly, for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, one of the best RPGs ever created.
🤠 11 years later, on October 26, 2018, players got one of the best virtual adventures set in the Wild West. Or maybe one of the best virtual adventures ever. Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 is an open-world masterpiece, with a compelling story, memorable characters, polished gameplay, and details that remain mind-blowing even today.
Which of these two brilliant titles do you like more?

25 years ago, gaming changed forever. 🏙️💥
Grand Theft Auto III debuted on October 22, 2001, and laid the blueprint for the entire modern open-world genre. Claude’s silent rise through the criminal underworld set a standard that still echoes across the industry today.
Without GTA III, modern sandbox gaming simply wouldn't be the same.

🎮 10 years ago today, Nintendo announced the Switch.
The reveal was a three-minute trailer. The console launched in March 2017 and has sold over 155 million units since then. That made it Nintendo’s best-selling console ever, ahead of the DS. 🕹️
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe alone has passed 60 million copies. The Switch 2 came out in 2025 and had already sold over 17 million units by the end of that year.
Which game made you buy the first Switch? Tell us! 👇
Since everyone is talking about flying cars, it’s a great excuse to revisit video games featuring everyday vehicles that defy the laws of gravity. 🚗💨
We’ve seen memorable flying car chases in Mass Effect 2’s Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, while Jak II and Jak 3 let us take the wheel of futuristic hovercars. 🛸
However, those were only brief segments in much larger adventures. Other games built their entire premise around the concept. The trend was particularly strong after the release of The Fifth Element, as Luc Besson’s sci-fi classic made flying cars one of the coolest tropes of the era. 🚕🌆
As a result, players got Crime Cities in 2000, NYR: New York Race in 2001, and Beam Breakers in 2002. The spirit lives on in modern releases, including Mile High Taxi, which keeps the airborne rush alive. 🕹️
Did you play any of these back in the day, or do you have another favorite flying-car game?
🦇 "Welcome to Arkham City, Batman." 🦇
Exactly 15 years ago, Rocksteady delivered arguably the greatest superhero video game of all time: Batman: Arkham City!
It took the brilliant foundation of Arkham Asylum and blew it up to an epic, open-world scale.
Why it remains an absolute masterpiece:
🎙️ Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill gave some of their most legendary performances as Batman and The Joker.
❄️ The Mr. Freeze encounter was a masterclass in boss fight design that forced you to use virtually every single gadget and stealth takedown in your arsenal.
🐈⬛ Playing as Catwoman brought a completely fresh, fast-paced combat and traversal style.
❓ 400 meticulously hidden Riddler challenges tested the patience of completionists everywhere!
