Dr. Fikret Dimircivi’s @fikret_dem message to the world is both powerful and deeply moving. His presentation at the 7th Global Dialogue for Justice International Hybrid Forum, held in Switzerland last July, was an emotional and compelling reminder of the human suffering that include young children and babies in #Turkiye.
His words call on the international community to move beyond expressions of concern and take meaningful action to protect human dignity, uphold human rights, and stand with those who continue to suffer.
We must not remain silent. We must continue to listen, remember, share these stories, and act.

Mukadder Alakuş @MukadderAlakus carries with her a deeply painful memory from her time in #Turkish prison, a memory of a mother she shared a prison cell with, who endured the unbearable grief of losing her child while she herself remained behind bars.
Mukadder witnessed this mother’s pain and suffering firsthand. She understood that some memories are almost too painful to revisit, yet she also understood why they must be remembered. Remembering is painful, but remaining silent would mean allowing these stories to disappear.

In the Works: Global Dialogue for Justice Year 7 — Luxembourg, expected November 2026!
The Global Dialogue for Justice Year 7 International Hybrid Forum is now in the works in Luxembourg, bringing together a powerful collaboration of scholars, academics, human rights advocates, and human rights organizations for another meaningful and courageous conversation.
Leading the dialogue is Dr. Merj Hemp, the American Scholar On The Move, bringing her expertise in facilitating and moderating Complicated Conversations through Critical Multimedia Literacy. Joining her is one of the most fearless scholars of our time, Dr. Bayram Erzurumluoğlu whose scholarship and commitment to justice continue to challenge us to confront difficult truths.
This nontraditional scholarly publication and international dialogue promises to be emotional, meaningful, and impactful, addressing some of the most heartbreaking and urgent issues facing our world, including the imprisonment of babies and young children in Türkiye, as well as other pressing human rights concerns.
Yet, at the heart of the conversation will be something bigger than suffering.
The power of the human spirit.
Through stories of courage, resilience, resistance, and hope, the Scholar On The Move continues to remind us that even in the midst of profound suffering and struggle, humanity has the power to stand up, speak out, and refuse to remain silent in the face of injustice.
The conversation continues. The voices become stronger. And the journey for justice moves forward.

What if the real political effect of permanent crisis is not fear but fatigue?
In the new UNFRAMED, I examine how endless scandals and information overload turn injustice into background noise and why public exhaustion can become politically useful:

A special part of this dialogue was made possible by an extraordinary young #Turkish woman, a daughter of #KHK victims, who courageously and effectively translated Dr. Hemp’s words, helping convey her message to the international community. Her courage to join the Global Dialogue this year, represents the power of the next generation to refuse silence and demand justice. We thank her very much for her contribution.❤️🙏🏻

Decree-Driven Persecution (DDP) is a scholarly concept by Dr. Merj Hemp to describe the systematic and state-sanctioned use of emergency decree laws to justify widespread repression, mass dismissals, arbitrary arrests, prolonged detention, asset confiscation, travel restrictions, family separation, and other human rights violations in Türkiye following the events of July 15, 2016.
Developed through years of interdisciplinary research, fieldwork, interviews with victims, and analysis of reports by international human rights organizations, legal experts, and independent researchers, the DDP framework also draws upon the work of prominent and extremely courageous scholars and human rights defenders, including Dr. Bayram Erzurumluoğlu @BayramErzurumlu, Hüseyin Demirtaş @HDemirtasTR, Dr. Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu @gergerliogluof, and Dr. Fatma Zehra Fidan @FatmaZehraFida4 among many others who have documented the consequences of the post-2016 emergency decree regime.
