We have featured the "Report on Study Sites" in our Annual Report 2025. In 2025, with the goal of building even stronger partnerships with LMICs, the GHIT Fund’s staff visited Ghana. Together with researchers from the Ehime University Proteo-Science Center Division of Malaria Research, they visited the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research at the University of Ghana, research hubs in Cape Coast, local schools and hospitals, the Embassy of Japan in Ghana, and the Ajinomoto Foundation’s maternal and child nutrition improvement projects to observe the current state of malaria research. In Thailand, the GHIT Fund’s staff visited Mahidol University’s Faculty of Tropical Medicine, a GHIT Fund partner. They toured the campus to learn about key research on tropical diseases, particularly malaria and dengue. They also traveled to Tha Song Yang District in Tak Province near the Myanmar border, where they observed medical practice and patient care in remote clinics, as well as community-based disease control measures. 【Global Goals Week (SDGs Week) 🌏】 The last week of September, which includes September 25th (Global Goals Day), is designated as SDGs Week. During this time, events are held around the world to drive action toward promoting and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 🌍 One of the targets of Goal 3 of the SDGs is to “end the epidemics of AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria and neglected tropical diseases and combat hepatitis, water-borne diseases and other communicable diseases,” but the efforts made to achieve this target remain insufficient. To spread awareness of these neglected diseases, the GHIT Fund presents “SDGs Talk,” a series of global health discussions with GHIT Fund CEO Osamu Kunii. In these discussions, Dr. Kunii invites guests to share information on aspects of the current global health situation and to think together about how to address global issues. So far, we have welcomed seven outstanding guests to share their unique perspectives and dive deep into global health issues, reflecting on our core mission: "No One Left Behind." 🇹🇿Tanzania Implementation Study Report🇹🇿 Tanzania is one of the countries where the schistosomiasis epidemic is especially severe. During the course of the development of a pediatric formulation of praziquantel, the GHIT Fund worked with the Access and Delivery Partnership, an initiative led by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), to support Tanzania in preparing its health system to adopt the new solution once it became available. As part of these efforts, we have prepared a report on the field visit and workshop conducted alongside the launch of the delivery of pediatric treatment for the “Strengthening Capacity for Delivery and Uptake of Pediatric Praziquantel for Schistosomiasis in Tanzania” (STEPPS) project led by the Tanzanian National Institute for Medical Research.
