I’ve spent >13 years raising a twice-exceptional child in both government-run public schools and private schools we funded ourselves, and the pattern Gutfeld described is exactly what I saw. Public schools treated academic achievement as a marker of privilege and layered identity lessons onto kids who still struggled to decode words. Private schools were better on basics but still required constant vigilance against the same ideology creeping in through staff training and “social-emotional” materials. I documented lessons, requested records, spoke at school-board meetings, pulled my child when the mismatch became obvious, and kept paying out of pocket so the focus could stay on actual learning instead of guilt. Silence from parents is how this factory keeps running. Demand the curriculum, opt out of the ideology, and treat school choice as the only real pressure valve.
