🚀 Can we do even better than DAGGER (a popular imitation learning algorithm in RL) in terms of sample efficiency? Absolutely!
Check out our latest work on Learn to Teach (L2T)—a one-stage training framework that seamlessly unifies teacher and student policy learning. This work is led by our ML Ph.D. student @feiyangwu and his team. By recycling simulator samples and synchronizing learning trajectories through shared dynamics, L2T slashes sample complexity and training time while achieving the SOTA performance.
But we didn’t stop there. We put L2T to the test with extensive simulations and hardware trials on our Digit robot, proving its zero-shot sim-to-real transfer across 12+ tough terrains—all without depth estimation modules. The result? Unmatched robustness and adaptability in real-world scenarios.
If you're into RL for robotics, this is one you don’t want to miss! 🚀🤖 @MEGeorgiaTech @GTrobotics @mlatgt

A new lab is working to expand access to practical sensing systems. These systems could benefit people struggling with addiction and alert people with limited healthcare access to potentially life-threatening medical issues.
Device prototypes like these usually require massive amounts of time and external resources to build, but thanks to the Uncommon Sense Lab, they can now be conveniently developed on Georgia Tech’s campus.
The lab is housed in @ICatGT and is managed by Assistant Professor Alex Adams.

Accepted to ICRA 2025! 🎉 We introduce MI-HGNN, a morphology-informed heterogeneous graph neural network built directly from a robot’s URDF. By embedding robot morphological constraints, MI-HGNN significantly enhances model efficiency and learning performance.
Applied to contact estimation for legged robots, it outperforms the SOTA by 8.4% while using only 0.21% of the parameters. It can also be seamlessly applied to other types of multi-body dynamical systems. Check it out for more details.
