Ironis ya? Investasi besar netflix ke industri film korea malah merusak industrinya sendiri.
Implikasi unchecked capitalism pada karya seni adalah mereka akan selalu cari titik mass consumption buat kejar profit.
Kalau dulu industri film Korea bisa lahirin series atau film yang โbedaโ, sekarang kudu pake formula mirip-mirip buat mastiin filmnya balik modal biar disukai banyak orang.
Karena Netflix investasi jutaan dolar, filmmaker jadi ga berani kreatif.
Kreativitas itu eksplorasi โthe unknownโ, trade-offnya unpredictability.
Sementara kalau udah dimodalin gede, investor ga terima unpredictability.
Maka sebenernya film Indie adalah sebenar-benarnya ruh industri film suatu negara ๐
Industri drakor lagi ngalamin krisis, jumlah produksi drakor turun sekitar 30% dalam dua tahun. Dari 141 judul pada 2022, jumlahnya turun cukup drastis.
Sebanyak 12 organisasi industri drama Korea sampai kompak mendesak pemerintah dan parlemen buat menyiapkan dukungan jangka panjang senilai 1 triliun won demi menyelamatkan industri drama korea yang sedang menghadapi krisis.
Bayangin, jumlah produksi drama Korea turun sekitar 30% dalam dua tahun. Dari 141 judul pada 2022, industri ini terus mengalami penyusutan. Stasiun TV juga makin mengurangi jumlah drama yang ditayangkan karena biaya produksi makin mahal dan kemampuan mereka buat berinvestasi makin terbatas.
Masalahnya, yang terdampak bukan cuma rumah produksi. Makin sedikit drama yang dibuat, makin sedikit juga kesempatan buat penulis baru menyalurkan karyanya, makin sulit aktor pendukung mendapat peran utama, sampai kru produksi mengembangkan kariernya. Kalau kondisi ini terus berlanjut, regenerasi pekerja kreatif Korea juga bisa ikut terhambat.
