This post will be a bit personal. The final monologue in GTA VI's Extended Look hit me differently. I'm in my 40s now. I was a completely different person when GTA V came out. Different stage of life, different responsibilities, different everything. More than a decade has passed, and somewhere along the way, waiting for the next GTA stopped feeling like simply waiting for another game. It became a reminder of how quickly time moves. It almost feels like Rockstar is speaking directly to those of us who have been playing these games for decades. A quiet reminder that we spend so much time waiting for the next big thing that we sometimes forget to appreciate it when it finally arrives. And I'd be lying if I said GTA VI doesn't make me wonder how many more of these moments I'll get to experience. If another GTA takes 10 or 15 years, how old will I be when I see it? How different will my life look then? How many new Grand Theft Auto games do I realistically have left in my lifetime? It's a strange thought, especially for those of us who remember when these games arrived every few years. So when GTA VI finally comes out, I don't want to rush through it. I want to take my time. Explore Vice City. Get lost in the little things. Talk about it with friends. Enjoy that rare period when everything is still new and millions of us are discovering the same world together. Because one day, GTA VI won't be the game we’re all waiting for anymore. It'll be the game we remember waiting all those years for. Enjoy it while we're here.

Japanese gaming companies largely avoided the massive layoff wave hitting the industry. Maybe part of the reason is simple: companies like Capcom kept proving there’s still a huge market for great single-player games instead of endlessly chasing the next massive live-service hit.

Strong start for Insomniac despite troubled launch

Okay, I may have gone a little too deep into this. Kojima says PHYSINT will be the culmination of his 40-year career. Then I started comparing Bill Skarsgard's outfit to Solid Snake in MGS2... and... this is where it gets interesting. One reason Kojima returned to action-espionage with PHYSINT is that fans spent years asking him to make another Metal Gear-style game. Now look at Bill Skarsgard's costume. Long black hooded coat. Wide, almost poncho-like silhouette. Dark trousers. Boots. MGS2 literally introduces Solid Snake as a man in a "long, black raincoat" crossing the George Washington Bridge before shedding it and infiltrating the tanker. Coincidence? Absolutely possible. But then look at the first PHYSINT artwork. The protagonist appears visually split between tactical infiltration gear on one side and a long civilian-style coat on the other. And who's handling character and mechanical design? Yoji Shinkawa. The man who helped define the visual identity of Metal Gear and Solid Snake. Then add the tagline: "The Next Cold War Begins." And Kojima describing PHYSINT as the culmination of four decades of his career. IMPORTANT: I'm not saying Bill Skarsgard is the new Solid Snake. But PHYSINT is increasingly starting to feel like Kojima taking the DNA of Metal Gear, stripping away the IP, and rebuilding it from scratch.

Probably an unpopular opinion three days after launch: Wolverine's biggest problems look fixable. The bugs, rough edges, performance issues and some of the general lack of polish can all realistically improve with patches. Then again, some issues feel like deliberate design choices rather than launch problems, and those are obviously much harder to change. I still think it's way too early to write the game off completely. Insomniac has a very strong track record, and I'd rather see where Wolverine is in a few months before deciding what the final version of this game really is. Which is actually a pretty sad thing to say, but yeah... a released game doesn't necessarily mean a finished game anymore.

Take-Two knows GTA 6 on PC could be absolutely enormous. And PC is becoming increasingly important to the company. Speaking at Take-Two's shareholder meeting, CEO Strauss Zelnick said: "The PC platform is becoming more and more important to our company over time." He explained that Take-Two generally wants to bring its games to platforms where there is a "meaningful audience." And that audience is getting increasingly difficult to ignore. Zelnick previously said that for multiplatform games, PC can represent around 40% of total sales, and in some cases 50% or more. But... for now: - GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S - A PC version still hasn't been officially announced - Rockstar historically releases its biggest games on PC later - Take-Two says PC is becoming increasingly important to its business - PC can already account for a massive share of sales for multiplatform releases - There is still no GTA 6 PC release date. But considering the sheer size of GTA 6 and the growth of the PC market, whenever that port eventually arrives, it could be one of the biggest PC launches we've ever seen.

Hideo Kojima has revealed that Bill Skarsgard will play the lead role in Physint, a project he describes as the culmination of his 40-year career in the video game industry. Kojima says Physint will redefine the action-espionage genre. And because this is Kojima, he also confirmed that he personally photographed the teaser visual for the game. You just can't not love this man.

I stopped caring about Call of Duty singleplayer a while ago, but I fucking love their trailers. Oh, and Mads Mikkelsen!

Can't wait to play as Geralt in Diablo IV? Well, there's a catch. The Barbarian skin is only unlocked by purchasing The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past through Battle.net. Bought the expansion on Steam, GOG or console? No skin. And if you already own The Witcher 3 somewhere else, your Battle.net DLC won’t simply work with that copy either. So yes, that Geralt skin could effectively mean buying The Witcher 3 again on Battle.net.

I'm going to shed a little tear for Blizzard, Diablo and StarCraft. So, stay awhile and listen. I'm an older gamer. I still remember being a kid and playing StarCraft almost religiously, then Brood War. And Diablo... don't even get me started. Diablo is easily one of my top five gaming franchises of all time. I played Diablo II religiously. To this day, I think that game is damn near perfect. The music. The sound design. The way every hit had weight. The incredible lore. Those ridiculously good Blizzard cinematics. And Barbarian. Always Barbarian. I'll admit something that probably qualifies as heresy among old Blizzard fans: I never played WoW. And I was never particularly happy that Warcraft, as I knew it, basically disappeared while World of Warcraft became this enormous phenomenon. But there was one thing Blizzard could always do to me. Trailers. Jesus fn Christ, those trailers. I can still watch the StarCraft 2 announcement trailer today and get chills. "Hell, it’s about time." That was Blizzard to me. Years passed. Diablo III came out. It was okay. Diablo IV felt like a welcome step back toward the darker roots of the series. But somewhere along the way, something disappeared. The magic. And then came BlizzCon 2026. Diablo V. StarCraft Dominion. Two announcements that younger me would probably have completely lost his mind over. And yet... I watched them and realised I didn't have that feeling anymore. That holy shit, Blizzard has somehow outdone itself again feeling. Maybe it's Blizzard. Maybe it's modern gaming. Maybe it's just me getting older. Probably a little bit of all three. I'm still happy Diablo and StarCraft are alive. I'll still follow them. I'll still play them. And somewhere inside me there's still that kid clicking furiously through Sanctuary and building Terran bases when he should probably have been doing his homework. But I miss when a Blizzard announcement felt like an event. When those few seconds of a cinematic were enough to give you goosebumps. When you saw that Blizzard logo and just knew: They fucking cooked again. Damn. I really miss that Blizzard.

I find it quite fascinating that OpenAI's developers apparently haven't thought of using AI to write changelogs for ChatGPT app updates. If only they had access to one.

I like Game Pass. It had an incredible opportunity to fight Steam with a different business model, but ultimately it failed to deliver. What is Microsoft doing to make GamePass better? Well, according to a new rumor, a massive Game Pass overhaul could be coming in 2027, and players may not like it. The leak claims Microsoft is considering a major restructuring of the service: - Game Pass with ads: $12.99/month - Game Pass without ads: $19.99/month or $239.99/year - Game Pass library + online multiplayer: $14.99/month - Online multiplayer only: $10.99/month - Family add-on: +$5.99/month - Cloud Gaming would become a separate $5.99 option for 25 hours - Newly announced games would no longer be guaranteed to launch day one on Game Pass - The main ad-free tier would reportedly become cheaper partly because of the removal of guaranteed day-one releases Xbox has responded to the rumor, saying it regularly tests different Game Pass offerings, that no plans have been finalized, and that previously announced games coming to Ultimate day one are not changing. That last part is interesting. Xbox specifically protected previously announced day-one releases, rather than completely shutting down the possibility of the model changing in the future. Of course, this is still just a rumor and should be treated as such. But if it turns out to be true, Xbox seriously needs to reconsider its strategy if it wants to keep players around. Making Game Pass cheaper doesn't necessarily make Game Pass better.

Marvel's Wolverine has been out for ONE DAY and Insomniac is already talking about changes based on player feedback. The studio says it's actively gathering feedback to "further refine the player experience". One of the biggest complaints? That infamous blue scent trail.

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma allegedly spends several hours every month personally handling customer support tickets. Instead of just reading reports, she wants to see first-hand what Xbox players are actually dealing with. She says even a single ticket can get surprisingly complex, but she keeps doing it every month.

Capcom has been on an absurd run this year. Five games, and somehow they just keep delivering. Just look at this ridiculous lineup: - Resident Evil Requiem kanded at 88-89 on Metacritic and raced past 5 million copies sold within days of release. - Pragmata, Capcom's completely new sci-fi IP debuted with an impressive 86-87 on Metacritic and quickly passed 1 million copies sold. - Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection scored an 86 on Metacritic, making it the highest-rated spin-off in the series. - Onimusha: Way of the Sword released on September 4 with an 86 Metacritic score, bringing the long-dormant action franchise back in style. - Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen. Dragon's Dogma 2 is getting a major overhaul and expansion with Dark Arisen, launching October 9. Capcom really looked at 2026 and decided missing wasn’t an option.

It’s been eight years and I still don’t think anything has quite matched the feeling of getting caught in a storm in Red Dead Redemption 2. The sky slowly turning dark. The wind picking up. Trees bending. Rain absolutely hammering the landscape. Lightning illuminating everything for a split second. And somehow, it never felt like a scripted “weather effect.” It felt like the world itself was changing around you. Rockstar set the bar ridiculously high with RDR2. GTA 6 has one hell of a mountain to climb.

Looking for a new VR headset or your first one? Well, Valve's Steam Frame is finally here, and it's one hell of a fascinating sell. Even your grandma can use it. But here's the fascinating part. Valve somehow got Half-Life: Alyx running natively on a Snapdragon chip and built what looks like an incredibly capable Steam-first VR headset. Look at these features: - Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 + 16GB RAM - Fully standalone SteamOS VR headset - Wireless PCVR streaming - 2160×2160 per eye - Eye tracking + foveated rendering - Wi-Fi 7 - microSD expansion - Around 440g - 100+ standalone Verified games at launch - Half-Life: Alyx included - Valve spent over a year porting Alyx natively to ARM - Saves and mods remain compatible - Native Alyx runs at 36 FPS with reprojection to 72Hz - Valve says rising RAM/storage costs pushed the price higher than originally planned And that's really the Steam Frame story. The problem? The price. - $1,059 / €1,049 for 256GB - $1,299 / €1,279 for 1TB €1,049 is one hell of an entry fee for VR in 2026.
